Not that great!
I bought this to replace my Amazon Firestick 4K Max assuming that it would be a more superior product, Unfortunately, it is not! It was nice to get rid of the Amazon marketing and have some better control over my device, but as far as Audio/Video compatibility goes, it is substandard compared to the Firestick (and yet twice the price!). The remote is missing transport buttons (compared to the Amazon remote), although actually this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The HDMI CEC/IR control of the TV is flaky at best, and sometimes after turning my TV off, it will just randomly come back on. Overall, I'm not particularly impressed and am disappointed that I missed the return Window.

Brought august 2026 to replace a ageing 2nd gen fire tv box. Night and day difference, snappy os, apps load straight away better then built in smart TV also. Mainly used for TiviMate app which runs superb on this

You can do all that by making yourself a developer. Which takes seconds. That probably is against the terms and conditions none of us read but Google didnt make it super easy to do by accident.
You can still definitely side load on there as you can with the firestick
