Thanks for your query about the Loft Living Shelving Unit - Light Oak.
No, it’s not suitable for being used on its side. All the parts are designed to be used with it set in the taller, vertical position. Among other things, the way the parts attach to the frame, e.g. how the side walls of each “box” section rest on top of their bases, the location of the door hinges and how they’re designed to open, along with how these box sections fix into the outer frame, would all be affected by trying to use it on the side.
