Good all round Camera
I bought this Canon SX740 HS Lite Edition primarily as a replacement for my trusty SX730 HS that I have been using intensively since it was bought in December 2018 and has taken thousands of images in that time. As a replacement for my SX730, I was well aware of the pros and cons of the existing camera and was sure that the new SX740 would be a more than suitable replacement for myself as a keen amateur photographer with a wide spectrum of interests over various subject matters. The massive zoom (up to 960mm) is much more that I need for most applications but gives plenty of leeway where necessary and to all intents, the camera lived up to my expectations with one exception and that was the maximum ISO when being used in TV (Shutter Priority) mode. On the SX730HS in fast shutter speed / low light situations, the ISO in auto mode could be 1250 or even 1600, however with the SX740HS Lite Edition this is restricted to a maximum ISO of 800. (Note that manual ISO setting up to 3200 are available however) While the higher ISO does introduce an element of "noise" to the images, for some of my subject matter this was of less importance than being able to shoot in certain ambient light situations. For that reason, I've knocked off one star off what I consider to be an all round good camera but otherwise I expect it to be a worthy long term replacement for my SX730HS.

Flash not working
I bought this camera to take to australia for my family wedding. When i got there, i tried using the camera but the flash wouldnt work. Travelling to the other side of the world for a professional cameta not to be working is an embarassment. We now dont have any professional images of the wedding and i blame canon for this.
