About this product
One of the highest quality finishes in the range, the Phoenix wooden Ottoman bed provides both class and practicality, with an opening base that provides plenty of storage. Constructed from solid rubberwood, the oak option has MDF veneered side rails whereas the white option features MDF Melamine side rails. This frame has a sprung slatted base to give natural bounce, adjusting to where pressure is most exerted to provide greater comfort.
The gas piston strength on this frame is 588 N. The maximum weight load for the Phoenix Ottoman frame is 350 kg and can support mattresses up to the weight of 45 kg. Please note the mattress needs to be on the bed for the pistons to work. Birlea beds are only suitable for a UK standard size mattress and the recommended maximum mattress height is 203 mm. Good bed, Painful corners and even more painful...
instructions. My best advice for you is if you want to build this bed, do so without ever looking at the instructions provided. They led me down rabbit holes and dead ends until I finally braved the unknown and conquered the task despite it looking hopeless at times. It is worth mentioning once again too - that the corners of this bed are VERY painful to bang your shin on - but our space is limited so it might be why.

Sturdy bed
Bit complicated to put together, but can be done by one person. Much more comfortable than last bed

Quality & value
I put this together on my own, although it took a while I found the instructions easy to follow. The result is a very sturdy comfortable bed, with fantastic storage and it looks lovely.

Birlea ottoman bed
I bought this a month ago and still waiting for replacement parts to ones that were damaged when putting bed together. The lift up handle is quite close to the footboard and so always catching knuckles on it, which is annoying. Argos not interested, just gave me the suppliers details and told to contact them Expensive for what it is !

Beautiful bed
We received 5 cardboard parcels of varying sizes and were a bit daunted by the assembly at first, but everything was drilled straight, and it took the 2 of us, the 2 supplied allen keys and the supplied spanner about 2 hours to build in full. We were amazed at the easiness of the lifting mechanism and the amount of stuff the bed actually stores! The oak headboard is gorgeous and all in all apart from delivery issues I couldn't specify the delivery day as I'd expected to, due to the delivery people being ''third party couriers.'' A bit maddening as I'd bought the bed expecting to specify a delivery day with this being Argos, I've specified every delivery day every time before and this was my biggest purchase to date. Instead, the bed arrived on a day I wasn't free. Fortunately the delivery drivers were nice enough to unload the bed and my quite disabled dad in law was in to receive it. NOT what I wanted to have happen!

Hi there,
The internal base where items are stored sits directly on the floor, you would therefore not be able to run an extension cord under the bed.
I hope this helps.
