About this product
This ottoman bed is designed to organise a single bedroom and free up wardrobe space. The Phoenix End Lift Ottoman Bed stores spare bedding, seasonal clothes, or everyday items under the mattress base, so you don't need extra furniture taking floor space. It lifts from the foot end with gas pistons that do the heavy lifting, giving easy access to storage measuring 27 cm high and 193 cm deep. The solid rubberwood headboard and side rails stand up to daily use. A sprung slatted base flexes where pressure builds, adding bounce and support that helps your mattress last longer.
The gas pistons hold the base open while you pack or retrieve items, so you don't need to prop it or strain. The sprung slats adjust independently to spread weight evenly and reduce pressure points. The headboard is included and fixes securely to the frame with all necessary fittings. It fits UK standard single mattresses up to 203 mm high and supports a combined weight of up to 110 kg. Self-assembly required, two people recommended for easier handling. Comes with a manufacturer's one-year guarantee.
The gas piston strength on this frame is 588 N. The maximum weight load for the Phoenix Ottoman frame is 350 kg and can support mattresses up to the weight of 45 kg. Please note the mattress needs to be on the bed for the pistons to work. Birlea beds are only suitable for a UK standard size mattress and the recommended maximum mattress height is 203 mm. Storage space dimensions: Headboard to centre divide - 119cm Footboard to centre divide - 74cm.

Quality control needs to be better
Received this last week, after unboxing all parts and starting to build we found both long side pieces were damaged on the corner, we were too far into building to stop and take apart and pack it back up and we needed to use the bed so we had to carry on and the damaged corner are covered with the duvet. Not easy to put together and some parts are different to instructions and different to video. After working it out ourselves we managed to put the bed together. Bed looks great but disappointed with quality. Wish I’d checked all pieces before starting the build, I would advise you do this if you purchase this bed.

Poor quality
brought 3 weeks ago and the sides have distorted and every time you lift for storage it all goes out of line. It creaks with the slight movement. Very unhappy with the build quality

I buy this bed a months ago and I fix it all by myself, lovely bed and have lots of space to put on the stuff under. I was sceptic for the colour if will come same as show in the picture but I was so happy when I see the colour is exactly the same.

Such a beautiful bed once built. Reasonably easy to build with 2 people. So much storage space underneath. Had a few issues with delivery and had to wait over 6 weeks.

Lovely bed
Bought for son and husband put it together. Not the easiest thing to put together and my husband has every tool going. It took him about 3 hours in total but the finished bed looked great. I already had the same bed which is why I got this one. You lift the bed up with a strap which I myself found very hard to do. My bed had a handle which was much easier to pull up.

The bed itself is great now that it is assembled. But the service from Argos was awful and the bed was delivered without instructions. Basically, the bed is great but do not buy furniture from Argos because the service is just awful. I wanted to be more specific but Argos would not let me.

The Birlea Phoenix Kingsize Ottoman Bed Frame is constructed from solid rubberwood, the oak option has MDF veneered side rails whereas the white option features MDF Melamine side rails.
