About this product

A complete music system, R2 is equipped with DAB/DAB+, FM and internet tuners with pre-sets, and directly supports major streaming services including Spotify, Amazon Music and Deezer, and with a quality Bluetooth receiver every other streaming service available. The Bluetooth function also seamlessly integrates with the volume function on phones and tablets, so volume can be easily raised or reduced as desired. R2 also features a USB-C charge and playback port, switchable auxiliary line input and headphone output.

Good kitchen radio, with shortcomings
Great looks, intuitive interface solid buttons. The sound is good for its size, but compared to my (average) hi-fi system it lacks bass and depth. It is a lovely kitchen radio, but I would not recommend the R2 as hi-fi replacement. Multi-room audio is a sadly missing, it is slightly ridiculous that Ruark recommends the WiiM for that while the R2 itself has WiFi. I got it primarily for internet radio, for which I feel the number of presets (20) is too low; memory is cheap. Also, connecting to the internet takes quite long every time, up to a few minutes (does not happen with other devices).

This was bought to replace my Mk1 version that had given up the ghost. Sonically, I think the Mk4 sounds « boxier » and I was initially a bit disappointed. However, the Mk4 has a lot more features and these compensate that.

Absolutely love this radio
This is a very elegant radio and the sound quality is remarkable: very clear and distinct. It’s easy to use and we love it. There were some early problems when the time kept jumping forward a hour but Ruark support sorted that out quickly. We bought the additional remote control which is useful but in a perfect world it would have been white to match the radio, not black.

Amazing piece of kit
Aesthetically, the nicest looking radio on the marker. Additionally, it’s a powerful piece of kit. As a former sonos user, won’t be looking back now I’ve found Ruark

Very pleased to have bought this product. Only real difficiency for me is lack of CAST feature. Maybe a software update to include this can be considered.
