R1S grabs attention with its flawless look and sound. With tactile curves, exclusive Mid Grey finish and Composite wood hand-crafted grille, R1S exudes fresh contemporary design. The grille material is created from sustainable woods, which are carefully spliced, coloured, and recomposed to closely mimic the rich tones of slow growing hardwoods, without the ecological impact. The cabinet and grille blend perfectly with the trademark RotoDial controller and new colour display, to create a feel that encapsulates the technical capabilities of R1S.
R1S takes this timeless medium to a new level, but with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth also built in, R1S is more than just a radio, but more so a complete music system that's small enough to fit easily into your home, but capable enough to provide day long entertainment.
With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth streaming also built in the appeal of R1S is further enhanced. R1S directly supports Spotify Connect*, Amazon Music and Deezer and with its Bluetooth 5 receiver virtually every other service available. The Bluetooth function remembers up to six devices and provides excellent sound quality and efficiency, meaning minimal battery drain on battery powered devices.

A great small radio
I bought the Ruark R1S as a replacement for an aging Robert’s unit. The radio was easy to setup and I made 6 presets each for DAB, internet radio and FM. The controls are intuitive to use and the selection of individual stations is easy. The sound from this very small unit is very good with impressive bass enhanced by the design of the base. Overall a great radio.

Brilliant sound - nice surprise
Considering to buy FM radio with BT/WiFi option, I accidentally found Ruark radio. My 1st idea was to buy another brand, but after switching R1S on, I was sold. Extremely good audio considering the size of radio. After using it for 2 weeks, it's absolute georgious. And full of new features which I'm still finding...Absolutely recommended.

Ruark Internet Radio
Chosen because our FM and DAB reception here is so poor so internet radio was essential. Initially a present we discovered it did not receive internet , so had to be returned. The two models are identical looking and distinction needs to be emphasised in sales - 'smart' could mean anything. Reception depends on good enough wifi signal, so correct positioning is vital. MESH systems with wifi 6 and repeaters as we have are the best coverage. Set up instructions need a review, pre-setting channels could be easier. We had a curious anomaly that it could not pre-set BBC Radio 3 initially . We had to reboot and ensure the option numbers coincided with the station i.e option 3 for Radio 3, why we don't know. Once set-up it functions well, looks good, excellent sound and can be used for foreign stations.

Very Happy!
I already owned a (highly rated) Bluetooth radio and was not quite happy with the controls and user interface; the DAB performance was also less than sterling. And so I started looking at Internet radios and the Ruak R1S appealed from the first look. I purchased it as a 60th birthday present to myself and have been very happy with it ever since. The performance and usability are exceptional and the build quality and finish are superb; I especially love the walnut grille. I have been so impressed with the R1S that I'm considering purchasing the R3 system (just to play CDs; the R1S can cover everything else!).

Great sound quality
Bought as radio alarm clock for my bedroom. Compact size, well built and has great sound quality. Alarm starts quietly and gradually gets louder so is very pleasant to wake up to, plus snooze features.

Just perfect, I like the size, the look and the most important how it's easy to listen radio of the world or simply the FM radio near me. Bravo Ruark to offer this product, so hard to have the possibility to listen the radio without the need of external device (ex: a cell phone, tablet, computer..).
