R1S grabs attention with its flawless look and sound. With tactile curves, exclusive Mid Grey finish and Composite wood hand-crafted grille, R1S exudes fresh contemporary design. The grille material is created from sustainable woods, which are carefully spliced, coloured, and recomposed to closely mimic the rich tones of slow growing hardwoods, without the ecological impact. The cabinet and grille blend perfectly with the trademark RotoDial controller and new colour display, to create a feel that encapsulates the technical capabilities of R1S.
R1S takes this timeless medium to a new level, but with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth also built in, R1S is more than just a radio, but more so a complete music system that's small enough to fit easily into your home, but capable enough to provide day long entertainment.
With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth streaming also built in the appeal of R1S is further enhanced. R1S directly supports Spotify Connect*, Amazon Music and Deezer and with its Bluetooth 5 receiver virtually every other service available. The Bluetooth function remembers up to six devices and provides excellent sound quality and efficiency, meaning minimal battery drain on battery powered devices.

The R1S is the best home radio
My previous DAB and FM limited radio is good but the R1S - When I saw the channel choice of 25+ thousand I knew I was onto a winner. The sound quality is excellent. At last I don't have to listen to adverts nor do I have to listen to yet another version of Radio1.

I am extremely satisfied with the Ruark R1S Smart Radio, both for its perceived build quality and, above all, for its sound performance. With the latest firmware update, the R1S now fully supports Spotify Connect in lossless (FLAC) on my account, and the improvement in audio quality is immediately noticeable. The sound is more detailed, open, and refined, making listening a genuine pleasure. Thanks to this update, the R1S has become my favorite audio device at home. In terms of sound quality and overall listening experience, it can now confidently compete with Ruark’s larger and more expensive models, while retaining its compact size, elegant design, and ease of use. A great sound!
I’d read the many five star reviews, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Having now ‘eaten’ the R1S (well, feasted on the sound) I completely agree with those reviews. The sound is immaculate - an absolute pleasure to listen to music or the spoken word. It’s actually very portable and I find that I often use it to listen to podcasts or streaming music via blue tooth or a wired connection. It is of course quite expensive, but given the pleasure it gives and it’s likely longevity, I think that it’s easily worth the cost. I’d strongly recommend buying one.

The perfect radio
