The Ruark R1S is a DAB, DAB and FM radio and Wi-Fi-connected music system, bringing your favourite stations and streaming services into one beautifully designed unit that fits on a shelf or bedside table. With built-in Wi-Fi, you get direct access to Spotify Connect, Amazon Music and Deezer, while Bluetooth 5 opens every other streaming option from your mobile. The LCD display keeps things clear, and the RotoDial controller gives tactile control over your music. Whether waking to Radio 6 Music or winding down with a podcast, the 8 preset stations keep your go-to content a button press away.
The 9 watts RMS output delivers clear, room-filling sound with bass and treble controls so you can dial in the tone you prefer. Bluetooth remembers up to 6 devices, so switching between your phone and your partner's is seamless, and the AUX input handles anything with a headphone jack. There's a USB port for external connections, a headphone socket for private listening, and alarm and sleep timer functions if you want it on bedside duty. It's compact enough to sit neatly on a worktop or table, runs on mains power, and comes with a 2-year manufacturer's guarantee.

Fantastic product
Recently purchased. This is a quality product that has many features and works perfectly. The sound quality is great for a small product. It feels premium as did the packaging it arrived in. It was delivered very quickly. Hadn't really heard of Ruark until I was looking for a new radio alarm but would definitely buy from them again.

Great sound and features
Bought this to replace another brand that has withdrawn support for radio presets. Being smaller I did not expect the sound quality that I get from the Ruark R1S and it has every facility that I need.

Packs a Big Punch for a Little Guy
Purchased my R1S a month ago and so impressed. The build quality is excellent, the user interface simple and intuitive, and the sound is just amazing for such a small radio. Connection to the internet is both fast and stable. In addition, the Oktiv app works brilliantly, allowing you to control everything from your phone (android in my case). Overall, a real quality product and so glad I bought it.

An exceptional speaker worth every dollar
I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates premium sound quality. The Pros: The sound is incredible – especially given the unit's compact size. I have never heard anything so clear, crisp, and well-rounded from a speaker this small. The design and finish are excellent, if not beautiful. The initial unit set-up and user interface navigation are very intuitive. The Airable integration is also fantastic, allowing me to easily store custom radio URLs in the R1S presets. The Cons: The lack of built-in AirPlay is a drawback, as audiophiles will want to avoid the compression and degradation of Bluetooth. To fully utilise a speaker of this calibre, native support for Apple Music and Tidal (which prioritise high-res audio over Spotify) would be a welcome addition. Furthermore, the Oktiv app feels unpolished; it is currently slow and functionally limited, and it lacks Apple Watch support. Hopefully this improves with future updates. Overall: I am incredibly happy with this unit. I also owe a humorous “thank-you” to Bose for degrading their SoundTouch ecosystem overnight; while that forced transition was frustrating and costly initially, it ultimately introduced me to the superior Ruark product range. Ruark truly owes Bose leadership a case of wine for sending clients their way.

Great sound!!
I love the sound quality of this speaker. Listening to the radio and my playlists is easy and intuitive. However, the prices are too expensive, but these speakers bring me a lot of joy every day.

Best radio I have ever day.
My husband bought me my Ruark R1S radio for my 70th birthday in May. I listen to the radio for most of the day but this does much more than radio I can stream my own music, listen to my audiobooks and listen to podcasts (I’m just getting into them since owning this radio). It really is fantastic. The sound is amazing and it is very easy to control and looks so beautiful sitting in my kitchen and it is so well made. I would 100% recommend this if you are looking for a wonderful radio.
