The Argos Home Jenson Bookcase gives you a practical way to display books, pictures and collectibles without taking up too much floor space. Its tall, slender design fits neatly into dining rooms, living rooms, or bedrooms where you want storage that doesn't dominate. The deep brown wood effect finish blends with a wide range of furniture styles. Two fixed shelves provide open display space for your favourite items, while two handleless drawers keep smaller things tucked away and out of sight.
The drawers glide smoothly on metal runners, so you can open and close them quietly without fuss. Each shelf holds up to 6.5 kilogrammes, enough for a decent stack of books or a few decorative pieces. Wall-mounting is recommended for safety and stability, especially in homes with children. Expensive and not great
I found this unit very expensive for what it is and very time consuming to put together. Advertised as white gloss but again misleading as it’s only the drawer fronts that are. Drawers very small and not tall enough to stand a cd up which is what I wanted to store. Really disappointed

Great bookcase, but really difficult to assemble
The bookcase is perfect for my needs, fits the space exactly, and looks as good as you would expect for the very good value price. But it took my husband many hours to put it together - and he is a DIY whizz, so I would not recommend it for anyone without strong DIY skills.

Does the job
Bought this bookcase as it fit the gap I had ans I needed one! Not the best quality but looks nice once up. Easy to mark/scuff. Front drawers are gloss finish, the rest is matt. I had the bookcase built by handyman and glad I did...took him about 45 minutes to put up!

Brilliant bookcase

I contacted Argos before buying to confirm the sides of the unit were also in high gloss white and was assured they were. This turned out to be totally untrue, only the front is gloss! Not happy.

No, there is no significant space/voids behind the unit. The back panels rise the full height of the product. Though it’s not flush with the back edges of the panels (the back panels are fitted into a little slot running up the two sides), there’d only be a few millimetres of space between the surface of the back panel and the wall.

Hello Steve. I have taken a look at the instructions for building the The Habitat Jenson Narrow Bookcase. The downward struts form part of the strength of the bookcase by providing support for the cross panels or shelves. Removing them may weaken the structure.

The supplier has advised the following for the Jenson Wood Effect Bookcase - Black Brown:
The height of the gaps between all three of the shelves is the same, 408mm.
(Each shelf section is on the two upper shelves is subdivided into two parts, a wide one that's 401mm wide and a narrow one that's 145mm wide. The bottom shelf is split into two sections of equal width, 273mm).

The dimensions of each shelf overall is 56.2cms width x 35.4cms depth with a height of 40.8cms between shelves. This is further split into two shelf spaces with backing board of width 42cm and a third shelf space with a backing board of width 29.2cm. The shorter shelf spaces with no backing are approx 14cms wide.

Having checked with the supplier for you I can let you know the drawer fronts, rails, ends and front edges of the shelves are all high gloss. Please note that the ends are a slightly lower level of gloss than the drawer fronts.
