Worth every penny

Surface Scratches
I bought this 12-piece Habitat stoneware dinner set while it was on clearance in preparation for hosting my extended family over Christmas, as I needed some extra plates and bowls. The set looks lovely — the matte white finish is clean, modern and quite timeless. The pieces are also reassuringly heavy, which makes them feel more premium when you first take them out of the box. However, after just one dinner I noticed that almost all of the plates had visible marks and scratches from our cutlery. This was quite disappointing, as it makes them look worn very quickly and suggests the surface isn’t particularly robust. For a set that would be used every day as your main crockery, I don’t think you’d be very happy with how it holds up. That said, for occasional use — such as entertaining guests or having a backup set — they’re perfectly serviceable and do look good on the table. I’m glad I bought them at a reduced price, but I wouldn’t pay full price or rely on them as my primary dinnerware.
