Great workout! Compact and no plug
I’ve been using it for several weeks now and it’s great workout especially with the bands. I burn about 200 kcal in 25 min (a sper my watch) . It’s so compact and light, I just store it behind my desk chair. Brilliant! I wish I had this before.

Definitely recommend
I recently bought the Decathlon 500 Stepper with Elastic Handles from Argos, and it's fantastic! As someone who owned a different brand for 20 years, I was hesitant, but this model is perfectly balanced, it's effective yet easy on the body, with great adjustable resistance. A solid purchase I'd recommend to anyone

Good workout
I bought this to assist with recovery from surgery and it's great. You really feel the benefit. I have been using it for 3 minutes each time and I'm now up to 10 times a day.

Sturdy stepper
The piston driven steps are very stiff and not adjustable but provide a very good workout and after only a few 15min daily sessions I can already feel the strength returning to my leg and core muscles.

Hello Donna,
To clarify, the machine is battery-operated, but only for the digital tracking screen. The mechanical resistance relies on hydraulic pistons, so the stepper does not need to be plugged into a wall outlet for use.
Here are the details regarding the battery:
1. Battery Type: The console uses one 1.5V AAA (LR03) battery.
2. Battery Life: The battery typically lasts a year or more with regular use. The LCD screen draws very little power as it tracks basic statistics like reps, time, frequency, and estimated calories.
3. Power Saving: The console includes an automatic shutdown feature that powers the screen off after three minutes of inactivity to preserve battery life.
If the screen ever goes blank or stops registering steps, you simply need to remove the display console from its socket and replace the AAA battery.

Hello Pedal Pa,
No, the MS500 Mini Stepper is not designed to be used while sitting.
According to Decathlon’s user manual and safety specifications, it should only be used while standing. Thank you for using Q&A!
Hello Joy,
The Decathlon MS500 can be beneficial for joint health, but because this specific model features a lateral twist movement rather than a purely vertical step, it comes with a major caveat for weak joints.
Here is a breakdown of how it affects each joint to help you decide if it is the right fit for you:
The Breakdown by Joint
- Hips (High Benefit): This machine is excellent for hip health. The side-to-side twist motion actively engages your glutes and hip stabilizers. Strengthening these muscles is one of the best ways to protect your lower back and knees.
- Ankles (Moderate Benefit): Maintaining balance on small, moving platforms naturally engages the stabilizing muscles around your ankles.
- Knees (Proceed with Caution): This is the main warning area. While vertical stepping is low-impact, twisting under a load can irritate unstable or weak knee joints. If your knee issues stem from tracking problems, meniscus wear, or ligament weakness, the rotation may cause discomfort.
Is it right for you?
- Choose this stepper if: Your joints are stiff or weak from inactivity and you need a low-impact way to build muscle, or if you want to improve hip stability and core strength alongside light cardio.
- Skip it if: You have active, sharp knee pain, a history of twisting injuries, or poor balance. If you prefer a purely vertical movement, Decathlon's MS100 model moves strictly up-and-down without the twist.
Tips for Use
If you proceed with the MS500, keep your feet flat on the pedals and do not let your heels lift. We recommend placing the stepper near a wall or sturdy furniture for balance initially, rather than using the elastic bands, until you are certain how your knees respond to the motion.

Hello Athy,
Thank you for reaching out to our Q&A service regarding the Decathlon Domyos 500 Stepper. This machine is highly effective for targeting the inner and outer thighs due to its unique twisting, lateral motion.
How it Targets Your Thighs
Unlike standard vertical steppers, the pedals on the Domyos 500 move downward and slightly outward. This lateral movement engages your muscles in specific ways:
- Outer Thighs & Glutes: The twisting angle forces your outer thighs (abductors) and glutes to engage to push your weight sideways.
- Inner Thighs: Your inner thighs (adductors) must pull inward to maintain balance as you stabilize your core.
- Elastic Handles: While the resistance bands focus on the upper body, they force your core to work harder, which indirectly improves leg stability.
Pro-Tips for Maximum Results
To maximize the focus on your thighs, try these form adjustments:
- Maintain a Slight Squat: Keep your knees slightly bent and your hips back. This shifts the workload from your knees directly to your thighs and glutes.
- Push Through the Heels: Focus on driving your weight down through your heels rather than your toes to better target the outer thighs.
- Control the Return: Avoid letting the pedals slam upward; actively resist the upward motion with your inner thighs.
The Domyos 500 is a fantastic, low-impact option for toning these areas while getting an effective cardio workout.

Hello Amelia,
Because the MS500 is a "Twister" stepper, it uses a diagonal side-to-side motion rather than just moving up and down. This lateral twisting can put "shearing" stress on the knee joint. If your knees are sensitive to twisting or rotation, this could cause pain. Thank you for using Q&A!
Hello Jo,
This stepper is generally quiet, especially if assembled correctly and placed on stable ground. Thank you for using Q&A!

Hello Lmj,
Yes, the console will provide the following functions: repeats, duration, frequency and calorie expenditure. Thank you for using Q&A!
Hello Kaz,
Decathlon Decathlon 500 Stepper with Elastic Handles doesn't have a non twist option.
How to use your mini stepper:
With the 500 stepper, you use all of your muscular and cardiovascular systems at the same time. The more workouts you do, the better your breathing and coordination will be. Kick off your workout with a 3- to 5-minute warm-up. Next, spend around 20 to 30 minutes working your muscles. After this, cool down gradually and then do a few stretches to increase your muscle flexibility and avoid injury.
