Not as good as the old hardware version
I’ve already got one C410 in my garden and it works very well, so I recently purchased a second one. I linked it to my app and realised that it didn’t have pet detection like my older one, or motion tagging. I looked at the software and hardware info and saw that the new camera has different hardware (version 2), my old camera is version 1. I left it up for a few days and my old camera was capturing wildlife at night, they would head towards the new camera and it wouldn’t detect them. I played around with the settings, but still the new C410 was missing a lot that it should be recording, so I sent it back as faulty, as it was useless if it wasn’t going to record motion and pets in my garden. I got the C425 which has been much better.

The Tapo C410 KIT 2K Solar Powered Outdoor Security Camera does require an internet connection for remote viewing and notifications, but you have two options:
Wi-Fi at the camera location: The camera connects to your home Wi-Fi for live streaming, motion alerts, and cloud features.
Mobile data on your phone: You can view the camera feed and recordings through the Tapo app using your mobile data when you’re away from home. The app works over 4G/5G just like any other internet-based service.
So, you don’t need to be on Wi-Fi on your phone—mobile data works fine. The key is that the camera itself must be connected to Wi-Fi at its installed location (it doesn’t have a SIM card for cellular connectivity).
