Does what we want, easy to fit.
This is an inexpensive add-on if you already have a Tapo hub. I was concerned it might be difficult to fit to our kitchen door because the door surface and the surround aren't flush with each other, but the magnetic sensors don't need to be exactly overlapping. Just do some testing before committing to the adhesive pads supplied! So now when the door is opened and closed, it's logged on the Tapo hub, it switches on the kitchen light (via Alexa) and - if we want - it will sound an alarm when opened "out-of-hours".

Bought this so that I can see if someone has entered the house while I'm out. It works perfectly (although does need the hub, available separately, to function) and the app gives the information about when the door was opened and closed in an easy to understand interface. I am aware that it can also connect to other smart home devices. I've not tested that yet but if it works as well as the basic setup did, it's sure to be a winner. Just to repeat - it does need the hub to function but at a combined cost of under £30 at the time of writing, it's not a huge overhead to get up and running.

Great for connecting to a Kasa smart radiator valve to explicitly turn off a radiator when the window is open. Saves money not pumping heating out of the window. Just be careful fitting to ensure clearance is ok as once stuck it stays there

Yes, the Tapo T110 contact sensor does require a Tapo hub to operate. The T110 is a SubGHz device (also called Sub-G-based product) that operates on the Sub-GHz frequency instead of standard 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. This means it cannot connect directly to your router and must connect to a Tapo hub to get internet access and work with the Tapo app.

Our supplier has advised that the Tapo T110 Smart Door & Window Alarm Sensor- Battery Included is designed to work on various surfaces, including doors and windows. While metal surfaces can sometimes affect wireless signals, the sensor itself should function as long as the magnet and sensor are properly aligned (no more than 0.59 inches/15mm apart when closed). If your garage door is metal, ensure there is no interference with the sensor's placement and test the signal strength after installation.
The Tapo T110 is not waterproof and is intended for indoor use. However, it can operate in environments that are dry and protected from direct water exposure. If your garage is dry and water-safe, and only experiences temperature changes similar to the outdoors (but not extreme moisture or condensation), the sensor should work as intended. For more details about waterproof models, please note that the Tapo T300 is rated IP67 waterproof, while the T110 is not.

I can advise the following for the Tapo T110 Smart Door & Window Alarm Sensor- Battery Included:
The sensor itself, does not have a built-in speaker and is unable to make an audible alarm sound.
The sound comes from a different device, the Tapo H100 Smart Hub, which is required to make the sensor function.
The T110 sensor detects when a door or window is opened and sends a signal to the Tapo Hub.
The Hub is the device that contains the siren and makes the audible alarm sound. It has multiple built-in ringtones to choose from.

Tapo H200 has a ringer function, if you want to change the ringtone of the Tapo hub, to adjust the Hub ringtone and volume, you may open Tapo app > Tap H200 > Ringtone > Custom Sound > Edit Volume.
