The Argos Home Steel Extendable Curtain Pole - 110cm - 300cm does require holes to be drilled if you are fixing the pole directly to a masonry wall.
If you are fixing to wood then no drilling is required.

One of the finials is designed to fit the 25mm diameter pole. The other finial has a slightly wider diameter and fits the 28mm pole.
Thanks Denise but the B pole end has a bigger diameter than the finial so this does not work
You take the white plastic out of one end of B to attach the finial.

Having checked to see, the brackets are shaped so that they are fixed to a vertical surface at the back with the rail held in a U-shaped cup at the end. They cannot be placed to hang vertically from the ceiling.
