Shark PowerDetect Bagless Upright Pet Corded Vacuum Cleaner

I wish I could return this!

I've had this vacuum for a month and I regret my choice massively. Cons: - It is too heavy and I am a relatively fit, active woman who works out. After an hour of hoovering, I feel back pain. - The Detect function isn't as good as I'd hope. For some reason, the suction is really heavy in my living room which leads it to be really difficult to move back and forth. The transitions aren't smooth. - When using the top noozle, it doesn't click in well when putting it back. You have to make sure you make a conscious effort to ensure it is properly back in place or it will slip out. - The power cord doesn't wrap around easily - The anti-hair wrap attachment falls out frequently when using it and I often have to set it aside so this doesn't happen. It isn't convenient to have to go back to it. This attachment is also too intensive and abrasive for some surfaces like couches. I wish they gave you more attachments. We had our last Shark vacuum for 10 years and it was on it's last legs. I can't imagine using this machine for 10 years but I'll try. Do not get this. It's a poor design and in some ways, makes cleaning more difficult. My husband has a better time with it but he isn't spending as long hoovering and I suspect this vacuum hasn't been designed with a 5ft 4" woman in mind (he's 6ft).

Shark power detect

My brand new shark power detect worked for about 20 minutes the red lights came on on the brush bar stoped working there were no blockages this machine came with a 5 year warranty failed after 20 minutes after reading the other reviews with the same issue I won’t be buying another shark vacuum

Amazing hoover

I am so impressed with the hoover I have a house with 2 dogs and a cat and the hoover picks up all the hair with ease!!! I highly recommend

Great features shame about the cord

I bought this hoover it has fantastic suction and picks up debris no problem, however for the price of this hoover the casing on the cord is so hard the casing splits open exposing the wires underneath. I suggest to the designer at shark to invest in some softer more durable plastic/rubber to cover the wires underneath or better still to have a windup system like Henry.

Amazing suction

I’ve used several different vacuum cleaners and this has blown my mind. Everything about it is amazing and my carpets feel more bouncy to walk on. I would recommend 1000%.

Fantastic Purchase

I bought this vacuum cleaner a month ago after looking at different models and so glad I chose this model. The suction is amazing, picked up so much more than my previous vacuum cleaner. Manoeuvrability is great and part of the vacuum comes apart leaving it ideal or anto oduefor stairs and awkward places .Great freshner or anti odour cartridges help leave a nice smell.Got the vacuum and accessories on offer , very pleased with my purchase .

Does the job, but not worth the price

I’ve used this a few times now after my cordless shark gave up after 5 years. I went for a corded one as the bins on the new cordless ones are far too small, but I miss the convenience of a cordless vacuum. I also chose this model as I have a long haired cat and thick carpets, so needed something good and robust. Initially I was very impressed - it got so much out of the carpet having been vacuumed the day before with my old one, however the detect functionality either has some flaws, or mine is faulty. As soon as I use the hoover on detect mode on my carpets a red light comes on and the roller won’t spin. I have to turn it off and back on again and quickly select carpet for it to work. Also, if I hoover up to something like the bottom of the bed or a wall, again the red light comes on and it stops. It’s a bit tedious to keep turning the hoover off and on again. Like I say, not sure if it’s a design flaw or I’ve got a dodgy one. It’s also very heavy - I could see that some people would struggle to manoeuvre or lift this, even in lift away mode. The bin is a little difficult to empty, as a clump of dust and cat hair collects at the top of the bin, so I need to use the end of a wooden spoon to pull it down and out. The filters aren’t the easiest to get to to clean either. Given it was one of the more expensive models I’m not convinced it’s worth the money.

Awful

Very disappointed with this product, VERY heavy you have to continually fight the motorised head which makes simple jobs harder than necessary, the sensors keep stopping the vacuum so have to keep switching it on and off for no reason as there is nothing blocking the machine and the plastic cable is dreadful a real trip hazard as the cable never lies flat on the floor, would not buy again… awful

Fantastic suction.

Been very happy with buying the shark vacuum cleaner. Very well made and the suction from it is fantastic. Have used all the tools that it came with and they all add to the usability. It leaves my carpets pile pulled up and springy.
