Incredibly powerful, but SmartDetect features are

I want to start by saying that this is an incredibly powerful and effective vacuum. The suction is outstanding, and on hard floors or thin rugs, it performs brilliantly. However, there is a major design flaw if you have thick or plush carpets. I recently moved into a relatively new build property where the carpets are still quite thick. Whenever I try to use the automated 'Detect' mode on them, the suction is so strong that the floorhead seals itself to the carpet. This causes the brush roll to completely stall and triggers the red safety shut-off lights. The only way to vacuum most of my house is to manually switch to the 'Thick Carpet' mode. While this opens a suction relief valve and allows the vacuum to move, it completely disables the entire 'SmartDetect' suite. You lose EdgeDetect, DirtDetect, and FloorDetect entirely. It is incredibly frustrating to pay a premium price for smart features that you cannot actually use in most rooms of your house. Shark really needs to bring back manual height adjustment for the floorhead so users can utilize the smart sensors without the vacuum gluing itself to the floor. Great machine for hard floors, but keep this limitation in mind if your home has thick carpets.

Best vacuum I’ve ever owned!

The Shark duodetect is the best vacuum I’ve ever had..and I’ve had Dyson’s too. Suction is great, you can really feel it doing its job. Maneuvering is easy and noise is low. My only niggle, but I read about this on its reviews but still worth taking the chance, was its flex lead is very stiff. If this could be addressed then the Shark is the total answer to your vacuuming dreams.

Makes a chore out of a chore

I find it quite difficult to use. It self propels into furniture and is I really heavy to pull back. The on/off button has a delay. The power cord is stiff and unwieldy. It has an upholstery tool that doesn’t fit properly on the unit and makes it impossible to “lift away” when in situ. An enjoyable chore has become more time consuming and difficult to do.

Bit stiff

We've had ours since June '25 so just shy of a year and the cable has split already where it loops around the cable tidy loop thing on the handle. The cable is extremely stiff and has very little give in it. I suspect the cable will eventually split in multiple places where it loops round. Also the extendable hose is not very extendable - when you detach the handle, you only have a small amount of length you can move the handle before it pulls the vacuum over. Apart from that tho, the PowerDetect feature, and the floor surface sensor is brilliant. Works so much better than our previous Dysons

Excellent vacuum cleaner with brilliant suction power and love the lift away for cleaning the stairs gets into all the awkward corners looks great and bin emptying is so straight forward such a dream to use so far only con is a bit heavy for us oldies but coping and living the dream thus far. Well done Shark.

THIS!! yes you need it, buy it. I have had a shark handheld hoover previously as I wanted the versatility of being able to get around the house quickly, without faffing with cables and the weight of a corded hoover. However, it broke after many years (due to my son dropping it, not the hoover giving in) and I now have 5 Ragdoll's here and 4 children + 2 adults, so wanted to opt for something with better suction and power. I compared lots of Hoovers and binge watched comparisons over the course of a week and decided on this one. I am so glad I did, I am still getting used to it (unless I have a faulty one?) as the roller goes red straight away up on turning it on the first few times on carpet to indicate its blocked? when it isn't. But after turning it on and off and trying to move it a few times it works fine, not sure if it's detecting the wrong floor type and going red? as I've only had it a few days, however once it starts up on the carpet its AMAZING. Never had a hoover like it, the suction is so powerful, I hoover pretty much daily and the amount of dirt it picked up from the upstairs carpets on the first use was crazy! They've had a deep clean of crap I didn't realise was in there! Other reviews have said the cable is stiff but a previous hoover I have owned the cable split, so Id rather a stiff one doesn't bother me:) the air wrap feature works really well and it puts the hair collected in to a separate compartment, very easy to take the dust bin off to clean, easy to lift away and clean the stairs.. if this hoover breaks I would repurchase it again it's very impressive! :) thank you shark!!

Amazing and powerful

This is the best vacuum I’ve ever had by far, I’ve spent so much time hoovering since I had it. I live by the sea and the amount of stuff it’s pulled from the carpet is unreal. I’ve recommended it to everyone I know. I love how it makes the sand dance in front of the headlights (love them) when I pull the vacuum back slowly
