Good product, easy to use.
I bought this basic Russell Hobbs bread maker for a good price from Argos a couple of weeks ago. So far I've tried the standard white, wholemeal and sandwich programs and all have worked very well. For the wholemeal, I added 2 tablespoons each of mixed seeds and nuts. The bread is more dense than shop bought but I guess that's how real bread should be. For the whole process making wholemeal, allow the best part of 5 hours including cooling of the load before cutting. There is a dedicated cook book specifically for this bread maker available from 'on-line' retailers with 300+ recipes which I might buy. Quite pleased with this purchase.

Great bread maker
I’ve had one of these before and it was great to make bread again but as the same thing happens with the blade it gets stuck in the bottom of the bread I think it needs rethinking so the blade can be removed and the bread won’t get damaged

Not much dough for excellent quality
We choose this for its aesthetics, brand reputation, compactness and to blend in with a white kitchen. The bread is excellent as well!

Improvements on previous model
The latest incarnation of the Russell Hobbs basic bread maker. Recipes have changed slightly but old proportions work well. I have always used slightly more yeast than the recipe says. The wholewheat cycle does not have a 30 minute warm up phase so total baking time is shortened. The crust is evenly well-browned, and the loaf came out of the tin easily. Very pleased so far, hope this one lasts as long as its predecessor.
Breadmaker to the masses, 65 or over
Hello there,
The Russell Hobbs Compact Classics Breadmaker 27260 can make brioche using its Sweet or Speciality dough programs, even though there isn't a dedicated “brioche” setting.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello BetsyA,
The supplier has advised the following for the Russell Hobbs Compact Classics Breadmaker 27260.
This breadmaker includes 12 programmes, each designed for a specific type of recipe. The time taken will vary depending on the programme selected, as each includes different stages such as kneading, rising, and baking.
For standard loaves, the Basic/White programme typically takes around 3 hours to 3 hours 20 minutes. Programmes such as French and Whole Wheat run for longer, as these recipes need extra rising time to achieve the correct texture and crust.
If you’re short on time, the Quick/Fast Bake programmes complete a loaf in approximately 85 minutes, although these loaves will be slightly denser due to the reduced rising time.
Some programmes have shorter or fixed cycles:
Dough: About 1.5–2 hours for mixing and rising only (no baking).
Jam: A dedicated cooking cycle for jam preparation.
Bake: A short 1-hour programme to bake previously prepared dough.
Cake: Designed for cake recipes that use baking powder or soda rather than yeast.
Sandwich: A slower bake for a softer crust.
Sweet and Gluten Free: Specialised cycles to suit these recipe types.
Speciality (Program 12): Intended for malt loaf recipes.
The breadmaker also includes a delay timer of up to 13 hours, allowing you to plan baking in advance, and an automatic keep‑warm function that keeps the bread warm for up to 1 hour after baking has finished.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello Happy baker.
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for Russell Hobbs Compact Classics Breadmaker 27260.
Although we don’t provide a specific ciabatta recipe for ciabatta, the machine is capable of making many different dough types. As long as you use a suitable ciabatta dough recipe and select the appropriate dough or basic bread setting, you should be able to prepare ciabatta dough in this breadmaker.
