Great purchase
I was delighted with the lampshade, it looks perfect on my base. Lovely quality too. This was the first time that I picked up at Sainsbury's, but it won't be the last.

Not suitable for pendant - OK for table lamp
Basically, this is poorly designed, and well made. It claims to be reversible - suitable for table lamp or pendant (ceiling) light, but it isn't. Only suitable for table lamp. You CAN fit it ti a pendant, but it looks dreadful - the fixings are on the bottom (large) circle and so are very obtrusive when looking UP at the light, and beans the bulb protrudes from beneath the shade quite a bit. I had to paint them white to reduce the impact, but it's still not great. If you want them for a tab;e lamp, these are strong and well made for the money. For a pendant - look elsewhere.

Could be nicer
Good quality item. There are a couple of things I am unhappy about, even with the gimble in the "up" position the bulb is too low, meaning even a small bulb is highly visible from the horizontal. Also this gimble frame is stiff and difficult to adjust. Also I would prefer if it was painted white (as is tradition) to make so it blends in with the rest of the lampshade.

"The material of the shade has no metal in it (just the circular rims at the top and bottom edges). The reversible gimbal is metal and is attached to the large circle of the frame on opposite sides; on a table lamp this would be underneath the bulb so would not cast any lines on the shade."
