Couldn't be without it now
Purchased a month ago, it's a very handy watch. The flashlight is brilliant, the features of the watch are second to none. Gps, navigation, fitness feedback. It's kept me from sitting on the couch and actually investing time in myself. I would recommend this or similar.

Upgraded my Garmin!
Recently upgraded from my old Garmin Fenix 6X to the Fenix 8 AMOLED and have been thoroughly impressed. The unseen inference has advanced tremendously since the 6X and the touch screen functionality makes it a lot easier and intuitive to use. The battery is impressive and lasts well, even when used every day - the feature that times out the screen and reinstates on motion is great and conserves energy. I am one of those people that use this as my everyday watch and also for sports (running, cycling and swimming) its proving to be robust and heard wearing and able to take the odd knock here and there with literally no marks. Also impressed with Argos and the pre order process for this product, was very easy and hassle free!

Better than the sapphire solar
I purchased this after buying the sapphire solar model and its less money and way better than the solar. The solar model was 1046 this was 750 and I wish I could send the solar back. This has more functions that are better than the more expensive model. In my opinion this is the better of the 2 models and if anyone is reading this buy this model dont waste the extra price for what is basically a gimmick. The solar doesn't really charge the battery not that you would ever see it just keeps the battery at the same level for the day but only if you keep it in the sun for 6 hours at 100% solar intensity

Great features, good price on Argos!
I bought this for Easter, there was the Red 10 promotion and I used my nectar points as well, so I got a good price. The staff was very helpful.

Excellent service, best price, great watch.
I had the Tactix Delta (a rugged Fenix 6) and left it in a car I sold to WBAC. Gutted! So I picked up the Fenix 8 AMOLED and its major upgrade. Screen Purists love the old MIP display but this one is the winner in my book. It’s just way more slick to use. There’s not enough sunlight in Blighty to be worried about whether the AMOLED is as visible in direct sunlight :-) Battery Battery lasts about 26 days so one of the best in class. I do about 4-5 gps tracked workouts per week if that helps. So far 26 days sounds about right. I dread the idea of having to charge every day in the case of iOS or android watches - it just creates friction in getting outside and using it. Apps There’s loads of other challenges and a social / connections element within the connect app. There’s also integration to 3rd party apps such as Strava via the garmin connect app. Garmin coach (free) in the connect app I use the garmin coach for marathon planning which sets up a series of runs for me. When doing one of the activities it implements a countdown and calls out whether you’re in range in terms of pace or heart rate (which ever you set). Then you get a nice detailed summary at the end. Sleep score The sleep analysis is amazing, so much detail. And because I can measure it, I always find ways to improve it. Ultimately, I get better productivity as a result. General stats If you’re into stats, you’ll have plenty of metrics to read through from your workouts. Histograms showing heart rate for workout segments, Aerobic load etc. Even down to the estimated sweat (ml) based on your output. Planing / reporting Every morning when I wake up, I get a report of what activities I have planned, how well my sleep was. One of my fav features. Activities are adjusted based on real time overall fitness. If it detects poor sleep it’ll reduce my run accordingly. Sizing: Initially bought the small screen to try something new and the strap didn’t even go around my wrist, it also looked very feminine. So upgraded to the 51mm screen which I had previously. As a 6”2 guy, it fits well and doesn’t look too big at all. Price Argos was the best price for me, even UNiDAYS (student discount) couldn’t match the price when sourcing from garmin directly. I took out the 2 year damage insurance too with Argos ..36 quid which is decent. Syncing / connectivity I use Spotify and boy is it faster to add music now. Takes about 2 mins to add a playlist. This used to be a real pain on the Tactix, it’d take about 45mins once the playlist had expired. I leave smart notifications on, the vibrate is soooo subtle (The old Tactix was awful, I disabled it completely). It’s just handy to keep check on key messages/emails without picking up my phone and falling victim to endless scrolling. Flashlight I thought it was a gimmick, but I use it all the time. Love it! So much to mention, but I hope this helps. 10/10 from me. Get one, they’re great!

Fenix 8 51MM
I bought this to replace my AW7, having used Garmin before with a vivoactive 3 I knew it would suit me better. I find Garmin Connect helps me focus more on my wellbeing, the data is much easier to follow than in Apple Health for me personally. The watch itself has a beautiful AMOLED screen but I think I would have preferred the solar MIP version if Argos sold it. Battery life is amazing I’ve turned on additional features but found the estimated life to be lower than what I get, so far I’ve got 22 days from a full charge and still have 18% battery. The only downsides is how my iphone integrates with the watch, alarms on the phone don’t pop up on the watch so I have to set these in 2 places, initially I thought I wouldn’t be able to control music but there is a generic music app which will allow you basic functionality like pause, play skip etc with Apple Music even though there is no native app. Initially I couldn’t set a few settings until the watch was updated to latest version (the watch would crash) apparently it was a known bug. Of course as time goes on more recent firmware will ship on newer devices
