Good on paper, shame about the reality.
I bought this four months ago to complement my existing Canon 77D as the 1200 mm lens should be better than the 18-200 on the Canon for wildlife shots. I have taken it away on trips twice now and there seems to be a fault in either the software or the camera. Every time I turn it on, the auto focus area that I have previously set has not been retained by the camera. The yellow-bordered resize window appears instead of the AF frame or the AF area has moved from the centre of the screen to either the top left or bottom right of the screen. This is most annoying, as the camera has to be reset before use. Point and shoot it is not! The lack of a lens hood is annoying, as is the lack of an available battery charger for off-camera charging. Oh, and taking pictures in overcast weather (a typical British summer's day) resulted in every shot being woefully underexposed.

Bought as a Birthday Gift but found that Panasonic does not supply a charger or charging lead, I assumed they were missing, but reading Feedback this has happened before, How you are expected to charge a battery is unknown

Amazing zoom
Excellent camera. Very intuitive. The zoom is amazing. Bought for taking wildlife and landscape photos. Shame to software does not work with IOS / Mac but can still download just by plugging in. Only improvement would be to have WiFi to link up with phone, which some of the smaller LUMIX ones do.

We didn't even switch this camera on because it did not have blue tooth or Wi-Fi to connect to a phone for remote file transfer, the previous model had this feature, it did feel well made and was good in the hand but not for us, a great shame a company the size of Panasonic couldn't include such a needed feature in this day and age, quite ridiculous really.

This camera does indeed have a self-timer option. It has a standard 10 second timer, a multiple exposure timer which initiates after 10 seconds and then fires every 2 seconds three times, and it has a standard 2 second timer too.
