I brought this due to the dog eating the cable for the TOOB router and being told it would take a few days to replace, decided to by this router...and it is so much better and faster!

Very poor, had to return
The issue was I could not change the LAN address fromthe default value without the Router locking up and having to be factory reset. I spent 2 hours on chat with TP-Link, then a phone call and multiple emails. In the end I returned it and brought another brand.

Hello GINGER,
I can advise the following for the TP-Link Archer AX12 AX1500 Dual Band Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Router:
Apologies, this doesn't support a SIM card for 4/5G connections.
Thanks for using Q & A.
Hello there,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the TP-Link Archer AX12 AX1500 Dual Band Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Router: Currently, routers do not automatically switch between bands.Currently, such a function is not available either.
Only the backend devices may automatically switch, such as some smart devices like mobile phones.
If these devices detect that the 2.4Ghz connection is not good, they may automatically switch to a 5Ghz connection.
Thank you for using Q&A.

Hello DT,

Hello Mel.
After contacting our suppliers they have advised for the TP-Link Archer AX12 Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 AX1500 Router.
The TP-Link Archer AX12 is a Wi-Fi router, not a modem. It cannot be plugged directly into a BT Master Socket (the main telephone socket for BT broadband in the UK) because the socket requires a device with a built-in DSL modem to decode the internet signal.
To use the Archer AX12 with BT broadband, you’ll need:
A separate DSL modem (e.g., from your ISP), or
A modem-router combo (set to modem/bridge mode).
Then connect:
BT Master Socket → Modem → Archer AX12 (WAN port) → Devices
You may also consider purchasing a DSL modem router (TP-Link offers compatible models). However, we recommend first checking with your internet service provider (ISP) to confirm your broadband type and compatibility requirements.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello 1999,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the TP-Link Archer AX12 Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 AX1500 Router: ''Regarding your inquiry about whether the router supports plug-and-play functionality, please be advised that this depends on the Internet service provider's (ISP) configuration:
If your ISP uses dynamic IP addressing, the router can typically be used in a plug-and-play manner.
If your ISP requires PPPoE authentication, additional setup will be needed to configure your account information.
After purchasing the router, if the customer requires assistance with installation or configuration, please feel free to contact our customer service team at any time. We offer 24/7 call support.''

Hi Corey,
There is no monthly charge for this router. But you do need a Registration with an internet service provider to access internet.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello Double G
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the TP-Link Archer AX12 Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 AX1500 Router: ''Yes, the TP-Link Archer AX12 can be used in a different part of the house to extend or improve your existing Sky Broadband connection — but how you set it up depends on how you want it to work.
Option 1: Use Archer AX12 as a Wireless Access Point (Wired Backhaul – Best Performance)
Please refer guide here:
https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/1384/...
Option 2: Option 3: Use it as a Router (Not recommended in this setup)
This would involve creating a separate network, which is not ideal unless you're replacing the Sky router entirely or doing something advanced like dual-WAN which is more complicated.''
Thank you for using Q and A.
Hello Kevin,
The supplier has advised the following for the TP-Link Archer AX12 Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 AX1500 Router:
“ Yes — you can swap your ISP-provided router for the Archer AX12 using exactly the same two cables:
Power adapter (included)
Ethernet cable from your fibre ONT or modem into the router’s WAN (Internet) port
No other cables are needed.
When on the web browser configuration on our router, please select your connection type:
Most UK full‑fibre ISPs use Dynamic IP (DHCP).
If your ISP uses PPPoE, choose that and enter the credentials they provided. ”
Thanks for using Q & A.
