About this product
The Habitat Skandi Deep Shelving Unit keeps your lounge organised and gives you somewhere to put the things you reach for every day. It's an open design with multiple shelves, so you can store books, display photos, or keep everyday bits within easy reach. The melamine with a wood effect finish stands up to daily use and keeps its clean white look. Two fixed shelves divide the space into storage sections that suit different items. It's a practical height that maximises vertical space without needing floor space you don't have.
The open shelving layout lets you see and grab what you need without opening doors or rummaging around. It's over 60cm tall, so wall fixings are included and you'll need to secure it to prevent tipping, that's really important for stability. Self-assembly's needed and two people are recommended to make it easier. Each shelf holds up to 5kg, so you can store a mix of lightweight items safely. The unit supports a maximum load of 20kg overall. There's a one-year manufacturer's guarantee included.

Happy with these for storage,quite sturdy.The big 4 cams that locate in middle of shelves do not lock very well so needs 2 people to hold in place to make easier when turning.

Instructions graphics and text are far too small to correctly pick up and use straight off. Also the view of the construction changes when it doesn’t need to, adding to the confusion (I have constructed self assembly furniture over a long time and there have been even worse instructions than these.). It took longer than necessary because of this. I occasionally needed another pair of hands to steady the structure while constructing. A small number of the connections between panels didn’t engage properly, leaving the structure a bit wobbly until the outside edges were put in place. I didn’t use power tools (as advised) but some of the laminate did flake off around dowelling too easily (see photo). All in all, I like the appearance and it will do the job I want it to do, but have some wood glue handy.

Having checked, boxes of that size should fit, just about, as each of the square spaces is 33cm width x 33cm height x 39cm depth. However, we cannot confirm exactly when it comes to 3rd party boxes as we do not have access to exact information on those. It would very likely be an exact and tight fit though if they do.

We would not recommend this Habitat Skandi Wide Shelving Unit is used without the feet and stiffing bar underneath which strengthens the unit.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised: All elements are made of Melamined Chipboard – I can not confirm that using paint on its surface will not affect its structure and durability.
Therefore, we cannot recommend painting this unit.
