I bought this 10 days ago and unfortunately it still tastes and smells like plastic. I have boiled it umpteen times and it’s still there so will have to return it which is a shame because it’s such a nice kettle, very light and looks nice with the wooden handle and base.

Bad taste of boiled water (transferred onto food)
I bought this kettle a few weeks ago, beautiful design, looked at the reviews before purchasing and thought all would be good. Since buying and using the kettle, there is an awful taste that cannot be removed. Best way to describe is a plastic/metal/antiseptic kind of taste, along with smell once the water has been boiled. This taste is so strong it also overpowers food (like pasta) boiled in the water. The kettle was boiled multiple times, cleaned with vinegar and bicarb, yet would not disappear. I kept with it for two weeks, refilling and reboiling multiple times a day, hoping it would go eventually.. but it did not. Was offered to swap, but after seeing most recent reviews (thought mine was just a dodgy one) I returned it with a full refund and bought a different kettle elsewhere.

Awful taste from water boiled
We are a house of tea lovers, so kettle on a lot and we always use Yorkshire teabags. This kettle looks really smart and I have appraised each section as acceptable, overall it’s a No. Although I followed instructions before using for the first and second time, all cups made had an awful taste which I can only describe as a mix between antiseptic and boiled plastic. Just awful and therefore unusable. Going to take it back to Argos for a refund as it cannot be used. Had to buy another from Asda.

A cheap kettle
The smell and taste of chemicals after boiling was intense. Found put on the web that it takes 150 boils to get rid of the micro plastics smell and taste. So brought a another kettle the next day with a stainless inside.

Odd Taste
Looks great, but I can't get rid of a weird platic taste. I've boiled it whilst full several times and scrubbed it with distilled vinegar and lemon juice, but the weird taste and smell just won't go away.

The heating element is hidden, you can't see it all. The kettle itself is really stylish and looks way more expensive than it was. When you go to Argos ask for a customer view on it before you buy it. Hope this helps.
