About this product
The Vax Platinum Power Max Pet-Design is built for homes where carpets take a beating from muddy paws, spills and everyday mess. It tackles ingrained stains and deep down dirt with an XL brush bar and 7 SpinScrub brushes that agitate right into the carpet fibres, lifting out the grime that vacuums leave behind. When used with Vax Platinum Antibacterial Solution, it kills up to 99% of odour-causing bacteria, leaving carpets genuinely fresh rather than just looking clean.
It holds 3.5l of clean water and 2.9l in the dirty tank, letting you cover a fair bit of ground before refilling or emptying. The 9m power cord and 2.5m hose give plenty of reach, and it works on carpets, rugs and upholstery. At 9.6kg, it's solid but manageable to move between rooms. You get a 2in1 antimicrobial tool, SpinScrub hand tool, pre-treatment wand, accessory bag, plus bottles of Platinum Solution and pre-treatment formula to start. It has a safety cut-out when the tank is full, edge-to-edge cleaning, and it sucks up spills as well as deep cleans.

Very annoying historic fault .
I would have probably given it 5 stars except for finding the same infuriating fault my previous Vax had . It just won't go back the same way it went forward . The cause is obvious , and the cure is simple . The two big back wheels wobble ! Push it forward down some skirting board , then , as you pull it back , it veers away from the board . Push forward on a long strip of carpet and you find yourself constantly readjusting the position to come back on the same track . I confess I didn't complain - to Vax , that is - when my previous machine did the same but surely lots of other customers did . I don't know how many decades Vax have been making these machines but they must surely do trials looking for such faults . Imagine reversing a car and the rear wheels wobble and point in a slightly different direction to the fronts . What would you do ? You'd stop them wobbling . Tighten them up or make them a better fit in the first place . Vax haven't done either . I know this might sound petty but when you have to do it CONSTANTLY on a big carpet ..... I'm writing this and thinking , "Why didn't I complain when I had the other machine ? What an idiot" . There's absolutely no engineering reason why the wheels need to be wobbly . Being rigid wouldn't prevent the thing from doing what it's designed for . Come on Vax . Fix it . They could even offer replacement wheels which fit better .

Brilliant price for excellent product.
Bought this 2 weeks ago and cleaned our lounge, stair and bedroom carpets in a few hours. Also cleaned the sofa. All look brand new and will now no longer feel the need to replace for another couple of years. Would highly recommend to anyone. The machine is heavy but easily moved around.

Carpet cleaning
Early days yet only used twice. The floor brush brackets pick up all the hair and dirt it's not easy to clean. To load and run is okay. It's noisy and heavy. As I am sure all carpet cleaners are. We will be doing a full clean soon then we will have an understanding of how good it is.

Far superior to our 20 year old Vax
We bought this to replace our first upright vax that we bought over 20 years ago which had finally given up after much use, this one is so much lighter and easier to use, both in operation and removing the tanks, it holds less water than our previous one, but far quicker to refill, and the waste tank lid comes completely off so it can be cleaned easily, that was one thing that frustrated me on the previous one, it draws out plenty of built up dirt, and made a good job of cleaning our carpets, not dissimilar to what we've been used, it does leave the carpets damp after thorough cleaning, but so did our old one, dry by the next day though, I've not used the tool attachments yet, but they appear superior to our old one and much easier to attach,

Hello Sophie,
The supplier has advised the following for the Vax Platinum Power Max Pet-Design Carpet Cleaner.
I would not recommend this model for a shag pile rug. Instead, I would recommend the Vax Spin Scrub Power Plus:

This model is more suitable for this type of carpet.

Hello Lesley,
The supplier has advised the following for the Vax Platinum Power Max Pet-Design Carpet Cleaner:
The Vax Platinum Power Max has its own solution compartment on the clean water tank which will auto mix with the correct amount of water.
You can also manually mix the solution in the water compartment of the tank which is 40ml per 1litre of water.
They have advised not to do both or too much solution will be mixed with the machine.
