Great kettle! A bit noisy when it first switches on bit it boils fast and goes quieter after a few seconds.

Breville electric kettle
I bought this to replace an existing Breville kettle that, although having given excellent service, had started to leak. This kettle was not very expensive and boils fairly quickly, pours well and seems well made. I do have a couple of issues with the design. Firstly the water level site gauge is only on one side of the kettle, making it more difficult to see the water level and the illumination does not change colour and goes out when the kettle has boiled, so unless you are standing by the kettle you don’t know if it has boiled. On my previous Breville the illumination gradually changed from blue to red and stayed on after the kettle had boiled, gradually changing back, as the water cooled, which was very helpful.

Breville Kettle
This is the second Breville kettle I have purchased and can only highly praise this make. Unlike other kettles the breville kettle does not splutter boiling water when it switches off and can be used to pour water immediately without fear of splashing. It is very well made and always looks pristine. Great value for money and a trustworthy kitchen item.

Hi Dinky- The Breville IKT255 Outline Kettle features a water level window on the side, which helps indicate how much water is inside. However, the markings may be quite small and not highly contrasted, which might make them difficult to see if you're visually impaired.

Ive just bought one based on the answer from Breville However the water gage is only on the one side as pictured. So no good for left-handers like me filling it up. Will be returning
