It just works and is small.
This Toshiba Canvio Ready Hard Disc was bought a previous one, which I used to store Photos and Videos. That HD was bought 14 years ago and has run for 63,000 hours. It had been suffering disc errors for some time and needed to be replaced. The Toshiba Canvio had received good reviews for data transfer speed. I just plugged it in and copied all the data off the old disc. No issues were expected and none occurred. I then removed the old disc and using the Disc Management tool in Windows 10, allocated the same drive letter as its predecessor and renamed it to Toshiba Canvio. The old disc had needed a separate power supply and had a large and heavy case. The Canvio is small and is powered over the USB connection. It is early days and just 196 hours into its life with me, but it just works and that is the best review for any product.

It's incredible how much smaller they have become while capacity has grown enormously since my first one, about the length and weight of a brick and offering a whopping 250mb. Yep, you read that right. No bulky mains adapter to lose or damage either, simple plug'n'play and away you go, thanks to a USB cable. Minus point for having a proprietary fitting on one end, rendering the million and one other USB-A/B/C/mini cables you already own useless in the event of a sudden emergency.
