Two speeds. Gentler of the two almost too gentle? Higher speed as I expected. Good to see usb charger, even better, charges with old mains charger. Just hope the battery lasts longer - why is it not replaceable?

Comfortable but intense brushing
Bought to replace an older Philips model which had broken after a few years use. Wow! This new brush looks and holds the same but the speed and intensity of the brush movement will no doubt yield benefits for my teeth and gums. The new model is also usb rechargeable so that’s handy when travelling. Great service from Argos and a competitive price. Overall a great purchase and I’d recommend wholeheartedly.

Cleans well
Toothbrush removes plaque well. The vibration takes a while to get used to. The whitening mode is a great addition and doesn't seem to vibrate as much as deep clean, but it still cleans great. Overall a great toothbrush.

I LIKE THE PRODUCT, IT THOROUGHLY CLEANS MY TEETH. MY TEETH FEEL REALY SMOOTH AND CLEAN AFTER USING IT. IT IS A LITTLE NOISIER THAN I EXPECTED. THE REPLACEMENT PHILIPS HEADS ARE REALLY EXPENSIVE. I RECEIVED THE TOOTHBRUSH AS A GIFT THAT, I KNOW WAS BOUGHT AT A REDUCED PRICE. I THINK THE RECOMMENDED PRICE IS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE

Amazing product! So much better than other electronic tooth brush brands. The brush head it comes with is small to which I thought it wouldn't do much but I was mistaken. It's powerful yet gentle and doesn't make my gums sore which i suffer with due to gum disease. If you're looking for a powerful electronic toothbrush I'd highly recommend.

Bought to replace a Philips Diamond Clean toothbrush that has not worked properly since I bought it 2 years ago. The 5500 is much quieter and I feel cleans my teeth more effectively

Good basic toothbrush, but awkward charging
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the product as part of a product test and that Philips has no editorial influence on the rating. Overall, this is a good electric toothbrush that provides a solid clean. I really appreciate the built-in timer that reminds you to switch the area of your teeth every 30 seconds, and the 14-day battery life is very convenient. The 31,000 brush movements per minute definitely leave my mouth feeling fresh. However, the charging mechanism is not ideal. The charging port is located directly at the bottom of the handle, meaning you have to lay the wet toothbrush completely down on its side on the counter to plug it in. While the brushing performance is great, the charging setup takes up counter space and feels a bit clumsy.

Brilliant bit of dental technology!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this toothbrush! I have never used an electric toothbrush before now, this has changed my way of dental hygiene. The brush is small enough to reach the toughest hidden parts of the mouth and the gentle pulsing makes you feel like you're having a deep clean of your teeth each time you use it. Battery life is phenomenal, I haven't had to charge it for a month so far!
