A very practical and useful watch
This watch prioritises usefulness over glamour, and is both practical and durable. I have owned a number of this model over the last 20 - 30 years, and it is a good example of the maxim "If it ain't bust, don't fix it". There is a backlight that illuminates the face on demand with a gentle glow, saving you turning the lights on. In a pinch this is strong enough to light your path and avoid obstacles if it's pitch black. I hope they keep making it for many years. Accurate, comfortable cloth strap, and waterproof.

Mine did Greybeard,but I wasn't sure how to fire it up,not how to get the backlight to work,(which by the way you simply operate by pressing the winder thing in to the body of the watch itself),so I simply took it back tomy Argos store locally and a person there showed me how to activate it 100%.I hope that helps mate....Bill :)

To start your watch remove the plastic guard from under the crown, then press the crown in against the case. The second hand will begin advancing in one-second intervals. If this does not happen I advise returning the watch to be inspected.

Mine didn't come with anything from stopping it working all I can suggest is to press the setting/light button and see if the dial glows and second hand starts to move, if not I would return it to the shop for a replacement.
It is a great watch it's just missing an alarm.
