Let down by a poor quality strap
I bought this for my elderly mother but soon realised that cost cutting has resulted in the underside of the leather strap being non-leather (traditionally this would be nubuck leather) and is now a plastic look-a-like. Unfortunately this starts to show cracks after a few weeks and eventually disintegrates. The leather upper of the strap is very thin and without an intact underside it is rendered useless.

According to the instructions: If the battery needs to be changed, we recommend that only TIMEX replace it. Your watch will need to be recalibrated to correct time and date after changing the battery.

I is difficult to predict the life of a battery. In most cases, a battery in a brand new quartz watch with basic time and date functionality may last up to four years. As the watch ages, the mechanism becomes worn and drains more power (the reason why factory-installed batteries last longer). Typically replacement batteries last between one and two years.

Referring to Charles answer above, from Argos, is this advertised as a leather strap when actually the strap is faux leather which is plastic designed to look like leather?
It says genuine upper leather on the strap, which I have discovered is starting to disintegrate after only two months of wearing. Never had this problem before, so I think it is just a leather coating!
The answer given to this question is misleading as it implies the strap is faux leather. Only the lower surface of the strap is faux leather, the upper is advertised as genuine leather.
