A flawed gem of a watch
I’m in two minds about this watch so let’s just leave it as the positives and the negatives…. The positives….The watch itself is well made with a nice case body and face in a compact design with red second hand. The black dial with pale off white numerals and markings makes for a field watch type of design with day date display. There is also lume on the hands, second hand, numerals and unusually so in a pale sort of blue colour which I found works particularly well and lasts well into the night- Most impressive. It has eco drive which will be very handy since batteries will not be required for hopefully several years. Overall the watch body seems quite robust with a raised area protecting the gnarled crown for extra grip. The negatives…. The strap that comes with the watch is of a poorly made type of fabric and the metal rings on the adjustment holes catch constantly on the strap making it almost impossible to adjust, furthermore the gaps between the holes are way to far apart so adjustment means its either too tight or way too loose meaning a third party strap is required adding to the cost. The day date is very tricky to set- especially with the limited crown adjustment manipulation. The day date display also is way too small to be of much use and clutters the otherwise clean dial. Personally I find the face a little too small overall for my needs still its an affordable well made watch so for those of you reading who need a compact solid field watch with great lume and build quality. Just factor in that strap change cost if its a nato fabric one for the aspiring adventurers among you or a nice leather one for the walkers like me.

Great tool watch.
I have wanted one of these for a while and decided to take the plunge as the watch was on sale at Argos. I have to say that, for the money, this watch is hard to beat. It is a great size for a smaller wrist (mine is 6.25") and the dial is attractive and very legible in all light conditions. A day/date complication is always useful and the lume helps visibility in low light. The other major plus point in the fact that the watch is solar powered so no battery/winding/movement needed, it really is just set-and-forget as long as the initial charge (by daylight or lamplight) is sufficient. The only slight gripe I have is that the strap is slightly basic but it will no doubt be durable and it certainly fits the tool watch look well.

On my eco drive watch it says it can last up to 6 months in the dark after a full charge
Hope this helps
I dont think the reply from Argos and or their supplier really answers the question.
No, you will absolutely not have to reset the watch in the morning with normal use, unless there is something very wrong!
I have had mine for well over a decade, and the charge of the internal battery from daytime light from normal use reaching it has had no problem in balancing out periods of darkness, including periods of several days in a drawer. I have never had to do any sort of battery-related reset!
Hello Nn,
The supplier has advised the following for the Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Analogue Green Canvas Strap Watch:
"I can confirm that our Eco-drive watches do not require re-setting in the morning if they are not exposed to light, provided they are set correctly.
Please note that our Eco-Drive watches are run by direct light. When the watch is losing time, has stopped, or if the second hand of the watch is double ticking, it is a good indication that the watch is low on charge. To perform a full back up charge, pull the crown out 2 x clicks and leave in direct light for 4 - 5 days. We would advise performing this full back-up every 8-12 months."
I hope this helps.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hi Dave
All of the instructions on how to set the month and date on the Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Analogue Green Canvas Strap Watch, are just underneath the details of the product on the first PDF file, you will find all the information you need on this.
Hope this helps
Thanks for using Q&A
Hello, to alter the time and date you need to pull out the knob on the right side of the watch. Turning the knob towards you alters the date. Turn away from you to set the month. Keep turning away from you to get the English month. Beware not to pull it out twice as this sets the time. One click out to set the date and month, two clicks out to change the time. This needs to be changed at the end of each month as it does not automatically change. I hope this helps.
Use the winder to pull it out 1 stop only 2 will allow change of minutes / hours. Movement 1 way changes date, movement the other changes the day. Hope this helps. Still loving my watch 2 years on.
