Could be painted yourself
Very plain, box is a bit rough so may need sanding down but for the price to be expected. Would look lovely painted then varnished. It's great to customise and think that's what it could be designed for then gifted..the shapes are quality coloured and sold made, lovely colour and choice of paints. Plenty of colour and shapes. Educational.

Not for the faint hearted
Bought this for 18 month old granddaughter as my own children had the simpler plastic one. I found I struggled to do this one. It's well made but I think too many options and shapes.

Just does not work…
Lid does not stay on… so as you turn it around to look for the right shape all the ones inside fall out. Really regret buying it

Yes this is one of the limitation this toy has, otherwise very good toy to play , what I did is I put a thread knob on that . But when she complete playing I open that knob and get her all blocks back out,
My baby (12months) got a piece stuck in her mouth. It actually got stuck behind her 2 little front teeth.
We have taken it off her and dont recommended it for teething babiesxx
