About this product
The Samsung T7 Shield is built for people who move big files fast and need tough protection along the way. This 1TB portable SSD uses PCIe NVMe technology to deliver read speeds up to 1000MBs and write speeds up to 1050MBs - nearly 9.5 times faster than a traditional external hard drive, which means massive video projects, photo libraries, and game files transfer in seconds rather than minutes. It connects via USB 3.2 Gen 2, giving you seriously quick data transfers whether you're working with a PC, Mac, gaming console, or Android smartphone or tablet.
What makes the Shield stand out is its rugged build. It's IP65 rated against water and dust, and can survive drops from up to 3 metres, so your data stays safe even when life gets rough. Security is built in too, with AES 256-bit hardware encryption and password protection to keep sensitive files locked down. The drive comes with both USB Type-C to C and USB Type-C to A cables in the box, so you can connect to pretty much any device straight away. Compact and lightweight at just 90g, it slips easily into a bag or pocket, and Samsung backs it with a 3-year limited hardware guarantee.

Did the job as expected
Bought to store overflow of images and offload from iPhone16 Pro, it allows direct connection via USB-C and had quick transfer speeds and plenty of storage.

minor compatibility issues with mac
Good capacity for price with the ongoing rise in SSD prices. Compatibility with Mac was off at first and needed to be played around with. Durability seems good but will be staying in a pouch anyway. Don't use the encryption on it but much faster than HDDs I've used from WD.

Terrible performance after a couple of months
The T7 drives are terrible, within a few months every single one I've used or others I know have used drops to 2Mb/s write speeds, regardless of what it's connected to. The issues are widespread (just Google it) and frankly I'm amazed there hasn't been a product recall.
