About this product
Ecobase Fastfit Shed Base kits are designed to provide a firm long lasting base on which to install a garden building. Each kit consists of strong, recycled plastic grids that click together and a sheet of weed resistant membrane. Ecobase grids are a lot lighter and easier to handle than paving flags and less messy and much quicker than laying a wet-mix concrete slab. Rainwater drains through the grid cavities keeping the floor bearers dry and ventilated. Ecobase Fastfit Shed Base kits are suitable for most garden buildings.
Made from 100 percent UK sourced recycled plastics.
The Ecobase Fastfit grids' honey comb structure does not allow rain water to get trapped between the grids and the floor bearers of the building. This means your building will last longer as the floor timbers are kept dry and ventilated.
Supports 240 tonnes per m2. Gravel is not needed across the whole base. Optionally, gravel can be used round the perimeter to create a French drain.
None delivery to Northern Ireland, Isle of Wight, Isle of Man, Orkney, Shetland and Scottish Highlands.

Great Ecobase.
I bought this Ecobase to keep my trunks and mini shed safer and to prevent water from getting underneath them, which would damage them. It truly was the best purchase I've ever made. It worked really well. I highly recommend it.

Very easy to install and reliable
I used this base kit for my 8x6ft shed and it worked perfectly. The plastic grids are sturdy and easy to lock together. It took me less than an hour to install it on a level surface. The shed sits evenly with no wobble. Great value for the price and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a simple and effective base.

Great to make a level base
I got this base for my new plastic shed to go on really did make a difference. I put sand down first then the liner then the grid base. Then put pea gravel down it went down really well and the shed went up level I’d recommend using the base

Hi there.
I can advise that the Ecobase Fastfit Plastic Base Kit Shed 8 x 6ft isn't supplied with anchoring materials.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello Taffy,
The supplier has advised the following for the Ecobase Fastfit Plastic Base Kit Shed 8 x 6ft:
"The use of pea gravel in Ecobase is optional. Given the strength of the grid - it will support 60 tonnes per grid even when empty - there is no need to fill all of the grids with gravel. Good practice however is to fill the cavities of the grids that protrude beyond the wall lines of the building with gravel as this will help reduce rainwater splash back on the lower timbers of the building - see image above. However this is optional - Ecobase will provide more than adequate support for the building if used completely empty."
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello Ad,
The supplier has advised the following for the Ecobase Fastfit Plastic Base Kit Shed 8 x 6ft:
"Yes, this is a very good idea.
Sitting a shed directly on a concrete slab on which water will puddle when it rains is not good for the lower timbers of the building.
Installing Ecobase on the concrete slab with the shed on top means the shed would no longer sit in pools of water as Ecobase's honeycomb structure has no large flat surfaces on which water can collect.
Keeping your timbers drier and better ventilated will mean the shed will last much longer."
Thank you for using Q and A.
Yes they provide a membrane to put down on the grass before you lay the base
Hi Emma,
Yes, you can use this Ecobase Fastfit Plastic Base Kit Shed - 8x6 and 7X5ft on soil or grass for your shed. It’s an eco-friendly alternative to concrete or paving flags.
Thank you for using Q&A
Hello Gus,
The supplier has advised the following for the Ecobase Fastfit Plastic Base Kit Shed - 8x6 and 7X5ft:
Yes, absolutely. As Ecobase grids are impervious, they prevent ground moisture from rising from the soil, so that the wooden floor bearers of the building are kept dry.
This means the building will last longer.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello GC,
The supplier has advised the following for the Ecobase Fastfit Plastic Base Kit Shed - 8x6 and 7X5ft:
“ This would be a very good use of an Ecobase Fastfit kit. Made from impervious HDPE which does not soak up water, the grids that make up the kit would lift the floor bearers of the shed away from any puddles that might form on the decking, thereby keeping the bearers drier and less prone to decay. ”
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi Chazz,
No, the Ecobase Fastfit Plastic Base Kit Shed is designed to support garden buildings such as sheds, summer houses, playhouses, potting sheds, workshops, and log stores. It is not designed to withstand the weight of vehicles or heavy foot traffic.
Thank you for using Q&A
Hi Jim
Ecobase Fastfit Plastic Base Kit Shed - 8x6 and 7X5ft
This would depend on the shed you are using on this base. I would recommend checking what the fixing instructions are on the shed.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello there,
The supplier has advised the following for the Ecobase Fastfit Plastic Base Kit Shed - 8x6 and 7X5ft:
"Ecobase Fastfit is suitable for almost all sheds, including those made of resin like the Keter Apex, as well as those made of metal or timber. The key to a good installation is to ensure the ground is firm flat and level before laying Ecobase and installing the shed."
I hope this helps.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello Mark,
The supplier has advised the following for the Ecobase Fastfit Plastic Base Kit Shed - 8x6 and 7X5ft:
Instead of grit sand, we’d recommend 10mm pea gravel.
This is because with larger particles, pea gravel drains better and produces a more effective French drain.
As the grids that make up the base are very strong even when empty ( they’ll support 60 tonnes weight per grid) there is no need to fill all 20 grids of the Shed Base Kit with gravel.
Instead, good practice is to fill just the cavities of the grid that are exposed beyond the wall lines of the building with gravel.
As a guide, your customer would need around 14kg of pea-gravel for each full grid equivalent.
I hope this helps.
Thank you for using Q&A.
The small print
All sheds need to be placed and secured on a base; this can be concrete, patio slabs or wood. Putting your shed directly on the ground wouldn't be safe and would decrease the lifespan of your shed.
