My new oven!
Oven delivered on schedule, well packed. Husband installed it, removed racks, wiped it inside then set it off on its pre-use programme - bit pongy but effective. Used it to bake and casserole and all good so far!

Not what I hoped
Ovens look great but the grill function only works with the door closed. While AEG claim this is a safety feature in fact it’s dangerous. On opening the door to check or turn food it causes me to temporarily be unable to see as a glasses wearer as well as creating steam and pockets of odor. At the very least I should be able to choose how I manage that cooking. Now having to relocate the extractor fans. Product guide is less than clear which is unhelpful in choosing best product for our circumstances

Good but could be better
1. Previous AEG Oven lasted 13 years and then started giving error codes re Heat Sensor, but replaced Oven with this one rather than incur repair bills. 2. This (supposedly similar) one doesn't 'look as attractive - a bit plain. 3. The Clock has been running slow since installation and a new Clock assembly will be fitted this weekend - not major but not good due to need for Engineer visits, but at least it's free under Warranty. 4. The cooking performance, which is what it's all about, is good to excellent. 5. The function Control knob is far too crowded and hard to distinguish the Icons and should be illuminated for clarity. I even have to refer to the Manual to reset the Clock - this shouldn't be so difficult.

Everything I had hoped it would be!
My old oven had broken, and I needed a replacement that would fit in the under-counter recess. AEG was able to supply several models that would have fitted, and this is what I chose. This oven performs absolutely wonderfully, and I am so pleased with it! I love the digital display that shows you how hot the oven is while in the process of heating up to the required temperature, (which happens surprisingly quickly). Everything I have tried in it has come out just as I expected it to, perfectly, including two fairly large Christmas cakes that I baked at the same time yesterday, one above the other. This oven is a great product!

looks nice, I have not tried it yet
Argos fitted the oven for me which was helpful, and the electrician tried it to ensure it works. I have not put the oven on since then, so cannot leave a review yet except it looks nice, is a standard fit and was easy for the electricians to fit, the delivery was fast (within a week) the oven looks spacious enough to cook a roast dinner.

Built in AEG oven
BPX535061M Oven heats up quickly and the digital display lets you know the current temperature. Very useful feature. Fan very quiet. Many preset set cooking features which so far have been accurate. Needs hard wiring

Excellent user settings front of oven simplify use
My old oven was 3/4 times more costly than the AEG purchased. The AEG is less complicated to use, excellent quality with great user setting to the front ,also has more shelves supplied as standard. Pleased as punch with purchase

Like for like replacement
Purchased as our previous Zanussi‘s control panel had broken for the 3rd time and was now irreparable. Seems to do all the same things for slightly less money. The control knobs are not easily readable from above so keep having to kneel to adjust settings. It is slightly shallower than the oven it replaced leaving an unsightly gap under the oven. It is held in place with only 2 screws rather than the 4 on the previous oven which does make it less stable.

The 300°C temperature listed for the AEG BPX535061M oven refers to its maximum temperature capability, which is used for pyrolytic self-cleaning, not regular cooking.
Here's how it works:
Pyrolytic cleaning heats the oven to around 300°C to incinerate food residues and grease, turning them into ash that can be easily wiped away.
For cooking, the oven typically operates at lower temperatures depending on the function selected (e.g., fan cooking, grill, pizza setting, etc.).

Widen the recess to at least 594 mm in width.
Increase the depth to at least 570 mm to allow for ventilation and cabling.
