"This chair does have a locking mechanism. It reclines simply by leaning back." When it's as far back as you want it, you then just lock it in place. No movement of the arms is required to be able to do so.

The seating height at the front measures 480mm and in the back of the chair it measures 350mm. You sit back into it as its a recliner hence the difference.
