When did irons become so advanced?
After 12 years with my old iron, it was finally time for a replacement, and I’m so glad I chose this one. One of the best features is that I don’t have to keep changing the temperature settings for different fabrics—it’s amazing! It heats up quickly, glides smoothly, and makes ironing so much easier and faster. I only wish I’d replaced my old iron sooner. Highly recommended!

Spitting water
After my last Philips steam generator lasted 7 years we decided to go with this model as was close to the specs as our last or even better, Looks good, glides smoothly, but the downsides….. the tank style easier to fill, but when you want to empty it you can’t get all the water out, our main disappointment was when you press the button takes a few seconds for the steam to come through, which is good but then decides to spit water out intermittently, but once you put it down to move the fabric it then takes a few seconds for steam to come through again, so not continuous like our last machine, after reading reviews saying similar things, decided it must be a manufacturing problem so took it back and got a refund and have purchased another Philips model that has much better reviews, almost £100 more but hopefully this one will be better

Tefal replacement
Purchased to replace an old, top-line Tefal that coughed and splattered it's last. Tefal vs. Philips, Philips won based upon reviews and feel/looks in the shop. So much lighter and more powerful in use. Major bonus in the ability to iron Denim then silk/synthetic without have to wait. No more pre-sorting garments before ironing. Great buy to date. Just hope it lasts as long as the Tefal did.

Do not recommend
This iron looks good—and that’s about it. I was very disappointed with it. I had a different Philips steam iron for 9 years and it was amazing. When it finally broke, I didn’t think much about replacing it and just bought this newer version. What a disappointment. It’s much weaker than my old one—it took me 25 minutes to iron a single pair of trousers, and even then the result wasn’t good. The steam is another issue. It comes out several seconds after pressing the button, and even then it’s quite weak. When you try to use the extra power button, water comes out instead, leaving your clothes wet. Overall, the whole ironing experience is very frustrating. After a few attempts, I started reading more about this model and realised that, despite being new, its specifications are much weaker than the older version. In the end, I returned it and bought a different Philips Elite iron, which is even better than my original one.

Steam generator iron review
It's doing good at the moment. Ask me again in 3 years to see if it is still working. Generally steam generator irons don't last longer than 3 years in our house despite using deionized water.
