"The Maxi Charger should be able to a 300mAH Ni-MH cell, the Charger rate is 260-300mA so the battery should charge in approx. 1-2 hours. While it will work, Energizer recommend the use of Energizer Rechargeable cells with our chargers."

This would depend on the garden lights, age, model, brand, etc. so I cannot give an exact answer. The charger itself would not need to be compatible as you'd remove the batteries from the garden lights and then put them in this.
However, the batteries this comes with are your standard rechargeable AA NiMH batteries, and it charges AA and AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries. Whether this is suitable will come down to whether the garden lights take the same batteries and whether it's able to prevent suitable water ingress so as to allow the use of such batteries in it. Again, without knowing the specs of the garden lights you have, we cannot give an exact answer, you may wish to check the garden lights specs and user manual for further info.

The supplier has advised the following for the Energizer Maxi Battery Charger with 4 AA Batteries:
"Yes this charger will charge rechargeable batteries of different mAh ratings. Charge times are estimated and based on cell or Battery, mAh, and the remaining charge left in the cell when charged."
They also provided this info as an example. Batteries shown here are NiMH ones.
- AA, capacity 1300-200mAh: 6-8 hrs
- AA, capacity 2000-2300mAh: 8-10 hrs
- AAA, capacity 500-800mAh: 5-7 hrs
