I have used this kettle more than a week. But plastic smell is not going away. I feel like tasting plastic every time I boil water. I thought because it is new plastic smell should go after few uses but it is staying strong washed it few times with different methods but still smells like plastic. I will be returning it.

Kettle with interior chemical smell
I took advice from Which as it was rated as a Best Buy, and bought this kettle, which I had to return. It is plastic internally and externally, and after trying for the best part of two weeks to get rid of a smell and taste which I can only compare with creosote (not that I have ever tasted that), I had to give up and return it. I tried several times, unsuccessfully, to dislodge smell and taste by various methods : plain boiling water, lemon, washing up liquid, white vinegar, baking soda and Milton. When I tried a cup of tea, which still had that awful taste and which lasted several days, I returned it. I was able at Argos to change it for another kettle, which is stainless steel inside and out, and after two boils and rinse as per instructions, water tastes perfectly fine. Some reviewers have given this kettle good reviews, although a small number have had the same experience as I had. Maybe a rogue batch. I just hope we haven't been poisoned.

Vile smell
Functionality perfect, quiet, quick boil and looks good however, despite several attempts with different products, after 7 days use I have been unable to remove the dreadful plastic smell on boiling and the plastic taste from the drinks. I have unfortunately thrown away the packaging so cannot return it.

The supplier has advised the following for the Kenwood ZJP09.000BK Dawn Kettle - Black:
Kenwood does not use polycarbonate in any parts that come into contact with food, and we will not release a product for sale unless tests show no BPA is detected. In addition, all materials have to comply with MicwF (materials in contact with food.) The filter is located inside the kettle however there is a catch inside the spout to release the filter.
