Another Black & Decker Winner!
My new Black & Decker 60cm corded hedge trimmer arrived today and really looks the business. Its 600watt motor sounds cool suggesting that its more than ready to kick some hedgerow into shape. The useful cutting saw at the blade end looks mean and may take me a while to get used to. But get used it it I will! For me, buying another B&D is a no brainer. I bought my current B&D GT230 Hedge Trimmer 40 years ago and have used it every year since; on a decent size hedge to boot. Other than a replacement power lead it's never let me down, never had resharpened blades and stored dry and lubricated. But time dulls all eventually! There's no doubt in my mind, however, that my new B&D will be just as reliable and, if treated with due respect, will ever let me down. Another plus is it's much lighter to use; that's always a welcome surprise! Compared to my 'ole faithfull has a thumb press button safety motor cutoff the new job has a more comfortable handle grip mechanism that offers immediate shutdown! However, there's only one thing that really concerns me, and that is........I won't be around in 40 years time to witness this one still working! :-(

The trimmer is excellent. It’s powerful and will cut through thick branches easily. Its blade is long, ideal for speeding up hedge cutting. It will even cut through long grass poking out of my natural limestone front hedge. Very powerful, ideal for my big garden.

There is a retainer on the trimmer, please see below, but it is quite fiddly to put the cable through. It is mentioned in the manual but it is listed as an ”extension cord”.

“ As per the manual,
Attaching extension cord to trimmer (fig. C) A cord retainer (7) is incorporated into the rear of the switch handle (6). u Near the end of the extension cord, fold the extension cord to create a loop.
You Feed the loop into the cord retainer housing 11 as shown in Fig. C. Hook the loop onto the cord retainer 7 so it rests in the cord retainer. Plug the extension cord into the unit. ”

The standard full length blade cuts up to 25mm but at the tip is a small saw type blade that cuts up to 35mm. The previous answer of 16mm is incorrect and is for a smaller model.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Black + Decker 60cm Corded Hedge Trimmer - 600W: Th manual states not to use the strimmer on any stems greater than 16mm.
