The sharpness, even wide open, is fantastic and makes incredibly crisp. Beautiful background blur (bokeh) is soft and creamy, making portraits look professional. Low light capability is achieved via the f/1.8 aperture it lets in so much light, and makes indoor and evening photography a breeze Compact and lightweight, It’s tiny and light, making it the perfect for street photography it’s the lens that fits easily in any bag. Perfect lens if you start and you don’t want to spend a lot for the first time. Having this only one and satisfied. Of course, if you are at a studio, you will need to go farther to capture full-height pictures, however it doesn’t affect much your experience. Overall, I love it. If you’ve got the ideas, know how to work with the camera, this lens will support you but will not do the job for you.

Perfect bit of kit
What can I honestly say a nifty fifty is essential for any camra kir yes there is the 1.2 version which is extreamly pricy but if your like me and do photography as a hobby and to escape reality then this 1.8 is just perfect for the bokah effect as well lovely piece of kit

Great glass, slightly disappointing action ...
I bought this to replace the equivalent lens in the EF mounting which had gotten a little tired. The optics were as superb as the older version - if anything slightly better, but the action was disappointing. I'd expected the same kind of performance out of the autofocus as for the other native Canon rf lens I've got - the little 18-45, which is lightning fast and silent. This is neither and that was a disappointment, as I hope to use it for video. I did actually return it thinking it was faulty but once they'd explained and we'd looked at another new RF 50 1.8, could see the differences in construction. It's still a great lens, though.

Yes. The argos advisor is incorrect. The r100 is a mirrorless camera, not a dslr. This lens WILL work with the r100.
