Worth it!
These are a great purchase for getting remote and automated control over devices that are not smart by nature. I have these controlling lamps, and the drinking fountain for pets. They can be set up to run at specific times, but they can also be scheduled around thing alike sunrise and sunset so they adapt to real time data. I have noticed though that the kasa app which used to be used to control them now struggles, but the tapo app is still working fine. You do need to ensure a fairly stable internet connection, so depending on the size of your location, you may also need to buy a range extender (check it has 2.4 network as these won't run on 5)

A fine product,
These Tapo wifi smart plugs are great, I’ve now bought 3. Download the app. Find the plug, set a timer or schedule and away you go. Much easier to use than previous brands I’ve tried, and a good price, also Alexa compatible

Work like a dream
I already bought Tapo cameras from Argos and they are very impressive. I thought that their timers would be just as good and I was right. These timer devices can run on the same mobile app as the cameras and work seamlessly. I would highly recommend all Tapo items. Usual exceptional service from Argos on-line and in store.

Excellent product, simple easy to use app
These switches are great. I have used them at multiple locations in my house: timer for grow lights, bedroom lights to come on at night and in general when you forgot to switch stuff on or off when I am away. Helps with my peace of mind. App is super intuitive and so easy to use. Very good product, I would recommend to everyone.

Turns my lamp on and off using my phone
Works exactly as expected in that I can use this to turn a table lamp off and on using the app on my phone. It takes up very little space on the mains socket so it won't foul any other devices. The app has lots of fancy functions which I will never use but some people may like. I just want on/off.

Hello Bol,
I can advise the following for the Tapo P105 Mini Smart Wi-Fi Plug, Remote Control- Away Mode:
When the plug is on, this will consume power from the device/s that is connected to it. Assuming you mean when there is nothing connected to it and the plug is switched off within itself and not at the socket that it's not connected too, then it does still use a low level amount of power to allow it to still be connected to the internet and controlled from the app.
Thanks for using Q & A.
Hello George,
I can advise the following for the Tapo P105 Mini Smart Wi-Fi Plug, Remote Control- Away Mode:
Yes, this is possible, when the device is connected to Wi-Fi and your mobile device has internet access.
Thanks for using Q & A.
Hello Griff,
The Tapo P105 Mini Smart Wi-Fi Plug operates at a frequency of 2400 MHz, which falls within the 2.4 GHz range for Wi-Fi devices.

Hi,
For safety, avoid connecting power strips to smart plugs or using plug adapters. Plugs generally have lower maximum load capacities than power strips. Additionally, overloading devices (exceeding the smart plug’s limit) may inadvertently be connected to power strips, posing a risk to product damage.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hey George,

Thanks for using Q&A.

We recommend using smart plugs directly in wall outlets. Explore our smart power strips here: https://www.tp-link.com/home-networking/smart...

Hi Jona,
I can confirm that Yes, the Tapo P105 Mini Smart Plug can be safely used in an extension lead, as long as:
The total power draw of the devices plugged into the extension lead does not exceed 1800W (which is the rated capacity of the P105).

Hi Martin,
Tapo smart plugs do not support the looping switch function, such as "turning on for 10 mins and then off for 1 min". or an Auto-reboot schedule every day.
Check here for detailed instructions on how to create Tapo Smart Action (Automation or Shortcut): https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2734/...
Note: To operate automation, your smart device should have internet access.

Hello,
Our supplier has advised the following for the TP-Link Tapo P105 Mini Smart Wi-Fi Plug -
Yes, the Tapo P105 can automatically adjust to dusk and dawn times without needing frequent manual programming. You can set up a Sunrise/Sunset schedule in the Tapo app, which syncs with real-world sunrise and sunset times based on your location. This means your lamp will turn on at dusk and off at dawn without needing adjustments every few days.
Additionally, you can set an offset time, allowing the plug to activate slightly before or after sunset or sunrise, depending on your preference.
Thank you for using Q&A
Hi Ali,
The Tapo plug does not record power outages and will not send you notifications when the power is cut. However, you will see that the plug is offline if it loses power.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello Alice,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the TP-Link Tapo P105 Mini Smart Wi-Fi Plug: ''Yes, you can use the Tapo P105 smart plug to turn your WiFi router off at night and back on in the morning. The key thing to know is that the Tapo P105 stores scheduled on/off times locally, meaning it does not require an active internet connection to execute scheduled tasks.
How It Works:
When you set a schedule (e.g., turn off at 11 PM and turn on at 7 AM), the smart plug stores this schedule internally.
Even if your WiFi router is off and there is no internet, the plug will still follow the schedule and turn the router back on at the set time.
Important Notes:
Remote control won't work when WiFi is off – You won’t be able to manually turn the plug back on via the Tapo app while the router is off.
Use schedules or a timer to automate power cycling.
Power outage considerations – If there's a power cut, the plug will return to its last state when power is restored (unless you've changed the default setting in the app).
So, as long as you set a schedule, the Tapo P105 will work exactly as you intend—turning off your router at night and turning it back on in the morning, even without an internet connection.''
Thank you for using Q and A.
