Not worth the money.
Bought this with our granddaughter in mind as she was learning about the planets in school. It was also an ideal time for the planetary alignment. Unfortunately despite being in a dark sky area in Northumberland and setting it up correctly it was quite rubbish, it wouldn’t focus at all. We intended to send it back as it was not what we expected having read the details before purchasing, but i became ill soon after and I was eventually admitted to hospital and it was down the list of priorities, so unfortunately we are now stuck with an expensive useless item that we can’t send back and I certainly wouldn’t try to sell to anyone ! We’ve had much cheaper telescopes that have been brilliant, that made viewing Saturn’s rings very clear and awesome, but nothing could be focused upon with this, even the moon. We are reasonably competent people so I don’t think this is user error, it’s just a very disappointing buy.

Celestron StarSense 22451
It would have been helpful forb the description to recommend you checked the smartphone compatability. Not all smart phones are compatible . After finding bmy phone was notbcompatible I then found one which apparently was but it would still not work . The telescope said it could not work out where it was pointing this was despite contacting Celestron direct for advice. Telescope subsequently returned for a refund.

Not as sterdy as advertised
The box didn't come with any protective wrapping. It struggled to stay where we aimed it. Good product, just not for me.

Hello Sally,
From the information we have available, I can advise Upgrading the aperture lens of the Celestron StarSense 22451 Refractor Telescope from 80mm to 100mm is not feasible. The aperture of a telescope is a fixed physical characteristic, and changing it would require replacing the entire optical tube assembly, which is essentially getting a new telescope.
If you're looking for a telescope with a larger aperture, like the Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 102AZ, which has a 102mm aperture. This model offers better light-gathering capability and improved views compared to an 80mm telescope.
Thank you for using Q and A
Hello Katie,
From the information we have available, regarding the following Celestron StarSense 22451 Refractor Telescope weighs 4.17kg and does not say that it cannot be moved or transport once it has been built and setup.
Thank you for using Q&A.
This would be suitable for viewing the moon. Jupiter can be seen with the naked eye but it will appear very small with this telescope as it only has an 80mm lens aperture. The aperture determines how much detail can be seen and the focal length determines how much magnification can be achieved with a particular eyepiece.
Hello there,
The Celestron StarSense 22451 Refractor Telescope has optimum magnification 36x and a maximum magnification 90x.
It is designed to view celestial objects including stars and planets.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello Ian,
The Celestron StarSense 22451 Refractor Telescope uses your smart phone and the StarSense app:
The StarSense app is used to in conjunction with the phone holder and mirror to examine the sky to see where the telescope is facing. If you want to take pictures, you will need to connect a camera to the eyepiece using the necessary adaptor.
Thanks for using Q&A
Hi Matty.
Celestron StarSense 22451 Refractor Telescope includes:-
a telescope tube with altitude slow motion rod attached,
a lens cap,
an accessory bag,
a tripod with alt-azimuth yoke mount and center leg brace attached,
a StarSense smartphone dock,
two eyepieces,
a 2x Barlow lens,
two tube mounting screws,
an erect image diagonal,
an eyepiece accessory tray,
a StarPointer finderscope and StarSense Explorer app code card.
I hope that helps?
Thanks for using Q&A.
You will probably be able to view Jupiter and possibly Saturn but they will appear very small due to the small aperture and relatively short focal length. It will probably give acceptable views of the moon though.
Hello MB,
The Celestron StarSense 22451 Refractor Telescope along with its accompanying app, is designed to view celestial objects including stars and planets.

Hello Clamsfem,
The supplier has advised the following for the Celestron StarSense 22451 Refractor Telescope:
A Celestron 40” telescope bag would fit this, however, this is an item that we do not ourselves sell.
I hope this helps.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello Den,
The supplier has advised the following for the Celestron StarSense 22451 Refractor Telescope:
"A smartphone is required to operate the StarSense navigation app that is included with this telescope and to operate it. The telescope includes a phone dock to operate the app. For images, a second smartphone would be needed and additional adapters depending on what the customer has."
I hope this helps.
Thank you for using Q&A.
