Customers Say
The Tefal Ultraglide steam iron is well-received for its lightweight design and effective steam output, making ironing easier. However, visibility of the water tank level is a common concern among users.

Easy ironing
Have had this iron for a over a year now as my previous 'heavy weight' died. It's lightweight which is a bonus, and does a great job on all types of materials. There is a removable cap at the back which collects the excess calcium which is brilliant, just rinse and screw back in, surprising how much is collected in there, ideal for hard water areas. Would like a bigger water tank, as have to refill frequently.

smooth, easy glide.
I bought this iron this last few weeks and its the best one I've bought for a long time, the cut off feature is a plus for me as I have to take rest while ironing, the steaming on it is powerful so the regulater is good.

Impressive
I was impressed from the start. The way the iron was protected and wrapped in the box to the way the iron does exactly what it is supposed to do. Tap filled for enough steam to remove creases and without steam still irons very satisfactorily. With all the heat settings needed and the bonus of a three metre cord. I know I shouldn’t be excited about an iron but when a necessary piece of equipment works well every time, it does help make chore more bearable.

What Can I Say!
I prefer Tefal irons because their base plates seem superior. This one seems up to standard.

Lovely iron
I purchased this Tefal steam iron as a replacement for a Tefal steam iron that I had for 10 years and it stopped working. Lovely iron, good weight, smooth sole plate that glides easily, handy longer length flex and easy to use controls. The only downside is the dark colour of the water tank means you have to fill it in good light or you cannot see the water level but this isn’t a game changer and I would recommend this iron.

Irons well, but...
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was expecting a good steam iron and it certainly produces a lot of steam. The downside of this is it is impossible to see the water tank through the purple plastic. I had to keep a torch next to me as I ironed so I could see the water level. The heat setting wheel is also not clear and partially hidden by the handle. Very poor design features. My next grouse is the set of instructions that comes with it is impossible to decipher. I had to take to Google to find out, in English, how to clean this machine, even then it is not entirely clear. At the price it will do for now but will be looking for something else in the near future.

The Iron does not include a water cup
Hi Sharon, we can advise that the slider can be flicked to the right for an extra steam boost. However it will not stay on this setting.
Hi Luc, we can advise not to use any water other than untreated tap water in the iron. If you know you live in a hard water area the untreated tap water can be mixed 50/50 with either distilled or demineralised water but there needs to be at least a 50% concentration of untreated tap water used in order for the steam function to work properly. Our irons are specifically made to use untreated tap water. Do not use pure demineralised water, water from clothes dryers, scented or softened water, rain water, filtered, bottled or boiled water, water from refrigerators, batteries or air conditioners, pure distilled water or rain water as these may damage the iron. These types of water contain organic waste, mineral elements that become concentrated when heated and cause spitting, brown staining, leaking or premature wear on your iron.

Thank you for using Q&A
Hi, this iron is manufactured in China.
Hi Clare, we can advise that if the iron is leaking when the iron is being filled, always set your iron to the 'No Steam' function before you start to fill it. Also, you can check the temperature that the iron thermostat dial/slider is set to as the temperature maybe too low to produce steam. The majority of our irons will only produce steam when set on the 2 dot or 3 dot setting. When you look on your iron's thermostat dial you will notice that the 2 dot and 3 dot settings have a shaded background, this indicates that the iron will produce steam when the dial is set inside this shaded area. Hi Lesley, to prevent brown water leaking out of your steam iron, please do not use any water other than untreated tap water in the iron.
If you know you live in a hard water area the untreated tap water can be mixed 50/50 with either distilled or demineralised water but there needs to be at least a 50% concentration of untreated tap water used in order for the steam function to work properly. Our irons are specifically made to use untreated tap water. Do not use any other water type as these contain organic waste, mineral elements that become concentrated when heated and cause spitting, brown staining, leaking or premature wear on your iron. Do not leave water in the tank when you have finished ironing. Also, an iron can act a bit like a vacuum cleaner on clothes and suck up soap deposits from fabric. It's essential therefore that clothes are thoroughly rinsed before ironing. chemical descaling agents or additives should never been used in the water tank. Hello Jac,
The supplier has advised the following for the Tefal Utraglide Plus FV5872G0 Steam Iron:
“ It does not contain a single temp soleplate this has a thermostat control. ”
Thanks for using Q&A.
No temperature setting and it can iron all fabrics without damage. However, I have just purchased this iron and will be returning it. It is NOT a one temperature iron as stated in the description.
The power cord for this model is 3m.
