Customers Say
Tefal Ultraglide iron is lightweight, glides smoothly, heats quickly, and produces good steam. However, many users find the dark water tank hard to see, leading to overflows and water spitting issues.

A good buy
I’ve had this iron for a week and I am really pleased with the way it handles. Previously sent back an iron that I found far too heavy and did not iron out creases half a well as this Tefal.

All good
It does what it says on the tin and the purchase was simple, and efficient

Why so dark?
Iron works fine, good steam production. But must echo the comments of others that the water chamber is too dark to see how much water is in it - leading to inevitable overflows

Good iron
This is a good iron by tefal for everyday use, it’s lightweight and glides easily across the fabric, steam is good and makes an easy job of ironing.

Fantastic product
I really enjoyed using this product because it was super light, & it’s a nice size to be able to hold & control comfortably. It glides along the clothes really smoothly without any problems. Highly recommendable product.

Poor quality
The iron sent to me spurts out water when steaming and it’s very difficult to see the level of water when refilling. Very disappointed and would not recommend buying.

Good lightweight iron
Only purchased a week ago but no problems - instructions easy to follow and like the colour codes. Iron is fairly lightweight and made it easy to skip through my basket of clothes!

love it
after having an old steam iron for over 10 years, using this one is just a delight

Nice looking iron, but very disappointing purchase
I chose this iron as Tefal has a good reputation and although it was a bit more expensive than other irons it had an attractive offer of 30% off. I tried it out at home straight away, but found that the half-steam function was ok, but the higher steam function wasn’t working. The switch wasn’t staying put when trying to select high steam, it was just moving back onto ‘no steam’ position, so off course no steam! I took it back to Argos, and got it replaced with the same model, only to find the same problem on the replacement. Needless to say I’ll be asking for a refund this time. Also, I found that I couldn’t tell what level the water was at because of the dark colour of the iron. Very disappointing.

Fantastic steam lightweight iron
Bought to replace a more expensive Russell Hobbs iron that wasn't heating properly after barely a year. Should have stuck with TEFAL!! Constant steam is fantastic, much lighter weight so glides with ease and no creases left over anymore

The Iron does not include a water cup
Hi Sharon, we can advise that the slider can be flicked to the right for an extra steam boost. However it will not stay on this setting.
Hi Luc, we can advise not to use any water other than untreated tap water in the iron. If you know you live in a hard water area the untreated tap water can be mixed 50/50 with either distilled or demineralised water but there needs to be at least a 50% concentration of untreated tap water used in order for the steam function to work properly. Our irons are specifically made to use untreated tap water. Do not use pure demineralised water, water from clothes dryers, scented or softened water, rain water, filtered, bottled or boiled water, water from refrigerators, batteries or air conditioners, pure distilled water or rain water as these may damage the iron. These types of water contain organic waste, mineral elements that become concentrated when heated and cause spitting, brown staining, leaking or premature wear on your iron.

Thank you for using Q&A
Hi, this iron is manufactured in China.
Hi Clare, we can advise that if the iron is leaking when the iron is being filled, always set your iron to the 'No Steam' function before you start to fill it. Also, you can check the temperature that the iron thermostat dial/slider is set to as the temperature maybe too low to produce steam. The majority of our irons will only produce steam when set on the 2 dot or 3 dot setting. When you look on your iron's thermostat dial you will notice that the 2 dot and 3 dot settings have a shaded background, this indicates that the iron will produce steam when the dial is set inside this shaded area. Hi Lesley, to prevent brown water leaking out of your steam iron, please do not use any water other than untreated tap water in the iron.
If you know you live in a hard water area the untreated tap water can be mixed 50/50 with either distilled or demineralised water but there needs to be at least a 50% concentration of untreated tap water used in order for the steam function to work properly. Our irons are specifically made to use untreated tap water. Do not use any other water type as these contain organic waste, mineral elements that become concentrated when heated and cause spitting, brown staining, leaking or premature wear on your iron. Do not leave water in the tank when you have finished ironing. Also, an iron can act a bit like a vacuum cleaner on clothes and suck up soap deposits from fabric. It's essential therefore that clothes are thoroughly rinsed before ironing. chemical descaling agents or additives should never been used in the water tank. Hello Jac,
The supplier has advised the following for the Tefal Utraglide Plus FV5872G0 Steam Iron:
“ It does not contain a single temp soleplate this has a thermostat control. ”
Thanks for using Q&A.
No temperature setting and it can iron all fabrics without damage. However, I have just purchased this iron and will be returning it. It is NOT a one temperature iron as stated in the description.
The power cord for this model is 3m.
