I’m deep in the ecosystem
I’ve had the device for years, and it took four years to melt its chip so I had to replace it. In the past I would have given it five stars as supports great WiFi speeds but works fine even if you have a slow connection. Interface is what you would expect on an iPhone or iPad - dead easy. Now, I’m unsure why but the responsiveness of the interface in this version is somewhat lacking - I’m unsure why that is when it’s updated to latest os. If not desperate, wait a bit and get the new one in September or October.

Upgraded apple rv
I bought at the week end to replace my old apple tv. The picture quality is great. I like the feature that boost dialog as on the old one dialog in movie was always annoying quiet.

Smart TV vs Apple TV
I was stuck deciding whether to buy this or not as most TVs now a days have apps installed and are smart TVs. However I decided to try this anyway. I can say that I am incredibly glad I purchased this as it feels so smooth and the remote not only controls my TVs audio it also allows me to use my phone to control the TVs audio and power settings too! I’ve also noticed the performance is on a different level when comparing it to a smart tv and you don’t have to worry about apps no longer being supported meaning my TV will last longer now because of this! For anyone stuck with question do I need this if I have a smart tv I would 100% say go for it. I couldn’t go back now!

A real upgrade for my tv, excellent picture and sound, super fast on the buttons with no lag whatsoever. East to install with iPhone. The remote is easy to use once you get the hang of it. Well worth the money.

Largely excellent streaming device, small and well designed, but you will need to go through all the settings carefully as the default options can be confusing and leave you with an unnecessarily crowded home screen, it can all be tidied up and re-arranged easily though. It comes with a few pre installed apps, but you will need to create, or have, an Apple ID to download additional apps, Netflix isn't a default app which is odd. My only gripe is that it continues to communicate with my router and use date even when the device is off, only turning it off at the mains will shut it off completely, even with background updates turned off this will happen.

Perfect 4k addition to my setup
Excellent product. Not usually an Apple fan but this box is amazing. Using it to watch 4k Netflix, Amazon Prime and other channels through a home cinema amp and 4k protector and the picture is stunning.

To set up your Apple TV, please follow these instructions:
Connect one end of an HDMI cable to the HDMI port on your Apple TV, then connect the other end to the HDMI port on your TV. Connect one end of the power lead to the power port on your Apple TV and the other end to a power point. Turn on your TV, then select the HDMI input that’s connected to your Apple TV. Follow the onscreen instructions to set your internet connection, single sign-on and other setup items.
