Good Machine. Not great Battery life.
Nice little cordless sander, does the jobs really well. A couple of gripes: I wish it came with a higher capacity battery as a charge doesn't last long with even moderate use, namd the offset dust pouch is really badly positioned. This was NOT manufactured for lefties like me. Only one speed.

Excellent product needs better battery
Excellent and easy to use kit. It should come with 4h battery, you’ll need one for bigger things like sanding walls. Does a great job and finish

Excellent Sander - not so good battery
The sander is one of the best that I have used. Very good rough removal leaving no visible sanding marks. However the battery drains very quickly, not much more than 30 minutes use and it needs recharging. I would recommend buying a bigger battery, giving you a use and a charging batteries. The sander is worth it.

stanley fatmax
Interchangeable batteries with other V20 fatmax tools helped in my decision as did having an old fatmax cordless drill still going strong after 12 years, I've nothing to compare this to and have only briefly used it as it's for an upcoming project that will require some dry weather, the little I did use it it performed well sanding some rough shelves in my shed, it would be nice to get some extra mesh but only supplied with one.

Excellent Sander for DIY Projects
I’ve been using the Stanley Fatmax SFMCW220D1S-GB V20 Random Orbit Sander (18V) for a few weeks now, and I’m really impressed with its performance. The cordless design is incredibly convenient, allowing me to work freely without worrying about cables. The sander is lightweight yet sturdy, making it easy to handle for extended periods without fatigue. The power output is excellent for a variety of tasks, from smoothing wood to refinishing furniture. I also appreciate the dust collection system, which keeps the workspace clean. The included battery lasts long enough for most of my projects, and it charges quickly, which is a big plus. Overall, it’s a high-quality tool that delivers great results. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient random orbit sander.

Hello KP,
The supplier has advised the following for the Stanley Fatmax SFMCW220D1S-GB V20 Random Orbit Sander - 18V:
“This is a 125mm sander. ”
Thanks for using Q&A.
Power sanders are more for sanding hard materials, doors, tables, stairs, removing paint etc.
You are better off using a sanding pole for sanding walls, with a 180 to 200 grit sandpaper.
The pole gives you a good reach area and you have more control over the amount of material being removed from the surface you are sanding.
Hi Juan,
The Stanley Fatmax SFMCW220D1S-GB V20 Random Orbit Sander - 18V is designed for sanding furniture, cabinet doors, railings, shelves, rust, paint and varnish removal. However providing you use the right type of sanding sheets for the plaster, the Stanley Fatmax SFMCW220D1S-GB V20 Random Orbit Sander - 18V should be suitable.
Thank you for using Q&A.
The upside, no power cord, dust extractor.
Downside, lithium ion batteries take damage if stored without a full charge, the battery charge drains even when not in use. Battery operated engines dont last long per charge and they have less power than mains powered tools.
The cold kills batteries, they dont like winter, it drains the charge and flat batteries shortens the life of the battery. They need to be checked for a full charge regularly when in storage.
Hello Eliza,
The supplier has advised the following for the Random Orbit Sander - 18V:
The battery life varies. It depends on the application being used, how long for, and what material, e.g. a tougher material which takes longer will act as more of a drain on the battery. How the battery is stored will also impact on the battery life. For example, it's not suitable for keeping in a temperature over 40°C. or under 10°C.
I hope this helps.
Thank you for using Q&A.
