Easy to use, great results

Second time lucky! The first Vax we brought home was faulty, possibly a sensor that wasn't working, so the Vax only worked on DRY not WET when you pushed forwards. Our local Argos were fantastic at taking the faulty Vax back and helping us order a new one. We've now cleaned all our carpets and this machine is super easy to use use. The carpets have come up beautifully clean and fresh smelling. No more stains. I was surprised how quickly the carpet dried too so the DRY mode is very powerful and effective.

We bought this a short while ago it was an excellent buy we are very happy with our purchase it has been manufactured with the user in mind it’s easy and lightweight to use and it’s construction allows you to clean it properly after use.

Bought recently and used twice so far on carpets and very pleased with results. Will soon try on grubby sofa back with the hand held hose etc. easy to use and most satisfying looking at the dirty water collection showing how effective this machine is. Be even better if the cleaning solution was a bit cheaper

Very good, but not quite great.

Setup is very straightforward, the performance is impressive, but the usage can be rather frustrating. First off, it's loud, so be prepared for that. Reversing the machine switches it from Wash to Dry, but that takes a moment to activate, leaving a trail of water that has to be dealt with separately. My experience with the drying function was very frustrating as the system seemed to have no suction at all, meaning I had to use the hand tool to dry the carpet on my hands and knees. The instructions say if the front cover is not properly connected, the system may "lose suction" - that's all fine and well but the machine doesn't tell you if it's not working, so you just end up with very soggy carpets. I tried several times to get the suction working, in the end I had to basically punch the cover into place pretty hard, and even then it didn't seem to kick in properly. The machine also seemed to cough up a bunch of hair which was very confusing as it was new out of the box... Our carpets are almost 5 years old now and they've had a lot of abuse from our cats. The machine did do a good job, and I think future cleans will improve the carpets further. The amount of water it picked up is a lot less than went down, so that's concerning also.

Great purchase

We had a vax carpet cleaner for some years which didn’t survive a house move due to its age and well used condition! The Smartwash pet-design is a definite improvement to the old one. I like the automatic detergent dispenser and drying technique and along with the less bulky and lighter design, it ticks all the boxes for us. We have a pet vacuum cleaner which we used prior to using the vax and although there were no visible hairs on the carpets, we were surprised at how much hair was picked up during the cleaning process. For us, it was a great purchase.

Having had an old fashioned "Henry Style" Vax I decided to upgrade as the old one takes time to set up and use. The new one is very quick and easy to set up and I've been impressed with the results. The attachments seem a bit flimsy, but with a six year guarantee Vax must think that they're up to the job. I've tried it on furniture as well as carpets and been very happy with the results
