easy to use features
bought approx 3 weeks ago. easy to us use apart from needle threader, it’s tucked in and diagram poor. didn’t come with user manual so am learning machine as i go. stitches well. wld prefer a heavier/bit larger foot pedal. found the light poor compared to my old machine and purchased an independant craft lamp. the bobbin can be fiddly to remove/replace. not as robust as i thought.

EXCELLENT FUNCTION AND DURABILITY
When i bought this machine I thought it would fail me like the rest but the new elements used in manufacturing its has now deemed durable and works in all my task excellently so thank yiu guys for a durable and smooth product. Im truly happy

Not happy with the machine.
I bought the machine about 6months ago and realised I was hearing an unusual sound whenever I sew on it. I did not think it was anything serious because the stitch was alright but the sound increase 2weeks ago and the machine stopped sewing altogether. I contact the store and was directed to the manufacturer. I am yet to be shown the way forward and this is stalling my work which is sad.

A great simple to use machine
I am just starting out in sewing and this is a great starter machine. Seems simple to thread and also winding the bobbin up. Threading the needle is easy due to the built in needle threader. I have had a few issues when trying to Freeform quilt but I think that is more of a user issue than a machine issue. Will update if anything changes.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Singer Heavy Duty 4423 Sewing Machine: ''The Singer 4423 will sew the occasional piece of thin leather, providing the correct sewing technique is used. This may involve using a different needle size and type, adjusting the stitch length, adjusting the presser foot pressure, adjusting the tension and using a different foot. The machine may struggle with 8oz.
This model should not be considered for the sole purpose of sewing leather; an industrial or semi-industrial machine would be required.''

As the UK importers and distributors for Singer sewing machines, we would only supply machines with the UK voltage 230/240v.
We are aware that customers have purchased machines with the US voltage from retailers who import machines.
If the customer has bought from Argos then the machine will have the UK spec

The needle size is related more to the thread being used. It is the needle type which should be considered alongside the fabric. For denim, we would recommend a topstitch needle. For cotton and satin, a universal needle is recommended. Again, the size will depend on the weight of thread being used.
