Bink
Keeps dieing not good at all

Great
Fitted camera to this over two weeks ago and its power is still showing good in the Blink app after only catching a few hours sun on the solar panel. Remember to take the tab from rechargeable battery inside the mount to activate the battery, sounds daft, but some haven’t done this. I initially fully charged the battery using my vape charger and I’m pleased to say I’m having no problems at all. The camera is in frequent use. The lithium batteries remain in the camera and are all used should the solars battery go flat.

Works great - Volcano Mount not that secure
I bought this Blink Solar Panel Mount recently and I must say that so far it seems to be working very well. Indeed whenever I've checked the battery status of the mount's own internal battery, the Blink App says that the 'External Power Status' is 'Good'. Now I must admit that I didn't fully understand how the solar panel mount worked when I first purchased it and just assumed it used solar power during the day, then reverted to your camera's internal battery at night, my assumption was wrong! This solar panel mount has it's own internal battery, much like what your camera does. What actually happens is the camera will always use the energy stored in the solar panel mount battery until such time that it runs too low or there isn't enough sun light to charge it. Only then will your camera switch back to using it's own internal batteries. Apparently this does extend battery life of your camera and it's easy to see why, especially during this sunny weather, my camera hasn't used it's internal batteries at all since I installed this mount. Obviously I could go into depth and tell you how it's fitted but you get instructions for that and it's simple enough to do. The only thing I will say in conclusion, is that I dislike the 'Volcano Mount', 'Blink' haven't designed these very well and in my opinion they're not strong enough to hold your camera securely. Indeed when I was up the ladder fitting mine I knocked the camera with the back of my hand and the camera came off the volcano mount and almost fell to the ground. Thankfully the cable at the rear of the camera was plugged in and saved the day, had it not been for that the camera would have hit the concrete driveway!!

Waste of money
Had the old camera for years no problem. Decided that it would be better to get solar as had to pay someone to climb a ladder the change the batteries. This unit didn’t recharge the solar function don’t work and I had to change batteries after 1 week twice.

Cheaply made.
I purchased this as I was getting through batteries on the camera that over looks a bird table. I fitted it and let it charge for a few days on our UK spring. Fitted the camera and all was good, camera shows as being powered by external power for a week. Then it just stopped, I don’t know if it’s the internal battery, the solar panel or the connecting leads that has the fault. Now I’m after the return date so stuck with another piece of plastic that’ll no doubt go in the recycle bin. Maybe I was unlucky, but from looking at the item it is very cheaply made, and may not be suitable for the UK with our massive variations in weather.

Hello Shifty,
The supplier has advised the following for the Blink Solar Panel Mount Accessory:
"The Blink Camera requires AA batteries to work. The Blink Solar Panel Mount doesn't directly charge the AA batteries inside the Blink camera; instead, it provides external power to the camera, extending the battery life, and the camera will switch to its internal batteries when the solar panel's battery is depleted".
Thank you for using Q&A.

Hi Amj,
After checking with the manufacturer, I can confirm this Blink Solar Panel Mount Accessory is not compatible with Blink Indoor, Mini, XT2, XT or 1st-generation Indoor.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Yes you can move the camera, it will not have the same degree of swivel as with the standard mount. It does give about 30 degrees left and right and vertical movement.
Hi there,
No, the camera would be in a fixed position.
Thanks for using Q&A
