Good Value
Surprisingly good for the money. My wife watches a lot of films on Netflix and was looking for more of a movie ‘experience’ We took a punt on this and for the money, we can’t complain, it certainly enhances our TV viewing. For the best experience of this soundbar, one needs to connect it to the ARC supported HDMI socket on your TV. Ensure you use a newer HDMI cable (older ones over ten years or more may not work with ARC). Once connected to your TV you can pretty much ditch the soundbar remote as your TV remote will control the soundbar volume regardless of what you are watching, be it Blu-Ray, Fire Stick, PVR etc as long as they too are connected to your TV via HDMI. Putting your TV into standby will also put the soundbar into standby. The only drawback in using the HDMI connection is that it uses up one of the few HDMI sockets on your TV, but this can be overcome with an HDMI switch if you do need more sockets. This will also apply to any other soundbar connected in the same way (ARC) regardless of price. The optical connection also gives good results, but you won’t have the TV remote functionality on external inputs, making it more difficult and confusing to use for those not so technically aware. The Bluetooth function also works well to listen to music from your phone etc, especially using the ‘music’ mode with very detectable bass. The only slight draw back is if you disconnect it from the mains, it returns to default and any bass or treble changes you’ve made will need to be readjusted. Obviously the performance of the soundbar will depend on the size of the room, but in our smallish lounge it more than does the job. I can only assume that those saying that it doesn’t have much volume must have lounges the size of the O2! It’s well worth the money and definitely better than expected. And if you use the correct mode Music/Movie/Dialogue it adds to the effect with plenty of bass on the first two modes. You need to experiment with the placement of the sub-woofer. Cheap extension cables are available if you wish to move it further than the 1.75m cable allows. Overall it complements our 55” QLED Bush TV very well. Good entertainment on a budget…
