The Sony SASW5 is a wireless subwoofer designed to pair with specific Sony soundbars - the HT-A9, HT-A7000, HT-A5000 and HT-A3000 - adding proper depth and punch to your home cinema setup. It's built to deepen the bass in whatever you're watching or listening to, from those rumbling explosions in action films to the low frequencies in your music playlists. With serious power driving a large driver and passive radiator, it delivers the kind of bass you feel as well as hear, and setup takes seconds thanks to instant wireless pairing with compatible systems.
The shaped magnetic circuit and separated notch edge technology work together to give you clean, rich low frequencies without muddiness, so dialogue stays clear even when the bass kicks in. It's a substantial unit that makes an impact but won't dominate your living room. Connection is via Wi-Fi to your compatible Sony soundbar, with no trailing cables required once it's plugged into a socket. In the box you get the subwoofer itself, an AC cord, instruction manual and warranty card, and it comes with a 1-year manufacturer's guarantee.

SW5 & Quad speakers
Upgraded a 5.1 solution to the Sony Quad speakers and SW5. In my smallish lounge space it’s a fabulous solution, delivering great surround sound and I’m very happy with the purchase. Only minor hassle is the Sony tv will lose Wi-Fi signal with the app, meaning you have to resynch them. No connectivity issues with the sound system though.

Great Subwoofer, elegant Sony design
I bought this subwoofer to enhance my TV sound experience particularly action movies etc. It is nicely designed and sturdy; it works great to deepen and enrich the base/ sound effects. Its look bit large size but think that’s necessary to produce such high quality sound.

I took delivery of the SA-SW5 sub yesterday as I have had to wait a few weeks for new stock to arrive from where I purchased the theatre Quad system. After plugging it in and pressing the link button the system picked it up straight away. However on the app it shows that the sub position is on the right of the room when in fact it is on the left. After a search I found the usual conflicting AI results saying it makes no odds as the sub is omnidirectional, which is fine if that` is the case. On the other hand depending on how the question is asked, it`s a known fact that it can happen, and the advise is to delete the app as thats the only way to clear the cache/data for the connect app, and then reinstall the app and perform the setup again. This I have done but it`s still the same. I have also done a factory reset on the control box and reinstalled to no avail. The thing which concerns me more as to whether there is an issue, is that whilst doing the room calibration, I get a sound signal coming from all four speakers but not the subwoofer, this which I`m more than aware of should produce either a deep rumbling sound or a fairly loud tone of some description. I have done a factory reset twice, moved the control box so there is nothing between that and the subwoofer. Playing movies that I know are good for bass sounds, all I am getting is irregular tinny rattle sounds coming from the sub. The light is on green to show it`s connected, and all speakers are running the latest firmware. I am waiting on a reply from Sony support to see if they can advise, if not then I will be sending it back from where it was purchased.

I bought this a month ago to complement the home theatre system i also bought along with Sonys flagship TV Bravia A-95L.soo glad i did the sound deep base is so lifelike it literally places you there weather gaming or watching a movie or just listening to the Dolby Atmos this combination for me - near perfect, i haven't experienced anything else out there that can compete !! oh and with Sonys cashback offer makes this even better, thanks Sony !!

I’m running a Theatre Bar 9, RS5s and the SW5 sub is the perfect addition. Easy to setup, subtle smooth bass, not overwhelming and plenty of settings/adjustment via the Bravia app.
