Dining furniture jargon buster

Your quick reference guide to materials and finishes

Butterfly dining sets This includes a table with two leaves or ‘wings’ that fold outwards to give you a bigger table. When it’s not being used, you can fold both away and sometimes even store the chairs underneath.
Breakfast sets This includes a narrow bar-shaped table that give you enough space to seat two people.
Solid wood It has a natural appearance. With knots, grains and slight variations in colour, no two pieces will look exactly the same – so you’ll get something really unique.
Real wood finish This means the furniture has been finished with thin layers of real wood. It’ll still look like solid wood, but it’ll be lighter in weight and less expensive to buy.
Wood effect finish That means the furniture has the look and feel of real wood, but with a more consistent colour and appearance, making it easier for you to create a totally coordinated look.
Metal and glass This makes it easy for you to create a contemporary feel that’s also durable and easy to maintain. Choose frosted or clear glass to create a great sense of space and light. And rest assured that the tempered glass in our glass and mirrors meets British Safety Standards BS6202 regulations.
Self-assembly These items come flat packed for you to assemble at home.  For some items, more than one person will be needed for assembly.
