Fibreglass A durable and flexible material, often used for tent poles
Sleeping bag GSM GSM stands for grams per square metre. It refers to the thickness or density of the sleeping bag filling. The higher the number, the more dense (and warm) the sleeping bag
Goose down Soft fine goose feathers used as a filling for sleeping bags and other bedding
Multi-tool A handy tool for camping and hiking, usually combining a Swiss army knife, scissors, bottle opener and corkscrew
GPS Global positioning system – a way to keep track of where you are and plan routes, using satellites orbiting the earth
Hollowfibre A soft, man-made fibre filling for sleeping bags that’s lightweight and offers superior insulation when it gets wet
Self-inflating mattresses Camping mattresses that fill with air by themselves – all you need to do is unroll them
Pillow pockets A specially designed part of your sleeping bag that you can fill with an inflatable pillow or clothes to make sleeping more comfortable.
Mummy-shaped sleeping bags Bags with a hood and drawstring that leave only your mouth and nose exposed when they’re completely closed
